Record number of nights away

Since mid May we have have had a record number of nights away in our new motorhome, 10 nights. It's a record because it is so low, we would usually have had 3 times that amount by now. Unfortunately, 3 weeks after picking up our new van my wife became ill
and spent most of June in hospital culminating in surgery in the beginning of July. Well, she is now on the mend and OK to travel so long as we make frequent stops, which we will, we are off on Saturday (2 sleeps). We won't be able to do a lot (no 14 mile
walks, climbing hills and definatley no bike riding!) but at least we will be away and meeting people. It should be an easier life for me too as stuck at home I get given all sorts of jobs on top of my domestic duties, (she's not allowed to do anything, bless
her). We are THS hopping to arrive at Shrewsbury in a weeks time for a Geocaching event and then on to Llangollen for another GC event, the UK Mega. Although we can't do what we usually do we will at least be amongst friends, old and new, so won't be bored
as we are at home. If any one else is going to the GC events come and say hello and log our geocat, he's friendly!

Glad you got some good news too. My nephew (aged 14) got into geo-caching and I've accompanied him on many a trek. I was amazed how popular it is when he showed me the numbers involved. Wow.

Funny story - we were searching in a field boundary wall for a cache in Cornwall, lifted a sizable flat stone and found an adder underneath!! My brother wasn't impressed!

I think if I was staying in the UK on Club sites 10 days would be more than I could stand. First prize in the raffle - one week on a Club site of your choice; second prize - two weeks on a Club site of your choice! Still, if people didn't enjoy it there
wouldn't be a Club so I guess we are in the minority.

Travelling abroad, the most we can stand is about 4 weeks but generally three is enough. We look forward to it, enjoy it, but enough is enough.

I very rarely use club sites. Much prefer cls, C&CC CSs and the freedom of their THSs.

Sorry but we like club sites. They may not be for you but that does not mean you have to put them down.

Just to show that there are other views we have had 25 days on club sites as a holiday. We were perfectly happy with the sites.

Peegeenine hope your wife recovers well.

Thank you Wildwood, she is getting there and looking forward to camping again. We have done 6 weeks straight in the UK, no probs. Our Geocaching hobby is what keeps us entertained, and fit.

Totally agree. That's why I am in the minority and sites are fully booked at peak times.

Even after 7 weeks away earlier this year I did nof really want to come home but we were only home for 3 weeks snf had appointments and jobs to do. We were then away for just under 5 weeks - more appointments! Have been back a week and are off again end
    of August until October.

PG, glad to hear that your wife is improving and that you are now getting out again.

We alway record the number of nights we stay away each year. So far we've spent 135 nights in our van this year, about the same as last year at this time. We generally have trips of up to 10 weeks using mainly CLs and the occasional club site.

Thanks for all your replies folk. Just to update, we have now added another 22 days to our camping in our new van. The wife has improved massively and after the first two weeks was able to manage as much as a 6 mile walk. It was just the stiles that needed
extreme care to get over. Another bonus was that, on our return, there was a letter from the hospital informing her that the biopsy results were all normal. Must go now, I,ve got 22 days of ironing to do.
