I have just noticed this request in the National Rallies category.

The Caravan Club Concert Band are looking for new players to join us at the National for the Tea Party on Sunday Afternoon.

Sadly it says it all.

Change the name and that advert could have been posted by any concert band in the world.  Don't see what your point is.

Hope we are not getting political as that would be against T&C's tea party

I like to consider myself young at heart and i can see nothing wrong with a tea party and a decent concert band playing to while away a lovely sunny afternoon with people with similar hobbies and interests it s called being freindly and sociable. May not
be everyones cup of tea(Pun intended!!) But Dont knock it if you haven't tried it.Laughing. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

Write your comments here... What do you expect at a tea party with concert music on a sunday afternoon?  I quite like the idea of a chat over a cup of tea while the band plays some old standards in the background.  Perhaps we should get up to date and hold the event in a sea of Glastonbury style mud while we sip our Red Bull to the sound of techno-garbage.

I really can't see the point of the OP,

    Sadly it says it all.

what does it say to you? it is not obvious at all, are you against tea parties, concerts or concert bands? people playing instruments? Is it the choice of music?

What is wrong in your opinion with the club's image? And what image would you like the club to project? There are many different people in the club and this is just a social event (isn't it?) aimed at one set?

I am really interested in your answer, such an event is not really my cup of tea (rallies or concert bands) but I can't see how it affects the image of the club?

Also the 'advert' is within the club isn't it, not on some national newspaper, who is going to see it apart from club members?

At a guess the OP is referring to an elderly image being portrayed by a club run in an elderly style for and by the elderly.  Am I wrong Natasha?

Sounds absolutely top hole to me!...

We were near the band rehearsal marquee at the National, they play all sorts of music and have musicians of all ages. We went to their Last Night of the Proms evening, it was a sell out. It's great to see youngsters joining in too. We have a professional
trumpeter in our family (I know there's a joke for one or two CT contributors in there somewhere. Winking )  But don't knock til you
see it, I presume it's at Sandringham next year, I wonder who else is invited....Happy?

+1, that was my take on it too DD. The CC does have an image of just what you say, if I ask any of the folk I know they'd agree with Natasha, they never miss the chance to point it out to meLaughing

I'm not trying to sell anything. Wink Don't quite understand why a group of musicians should receive criticism?

I don't see criticism just a link between-CC's image, Tea party & concert band.

I think it will be part of the National programme of events and there'll be all sorts going on. I expect the band are hoping to get some new musicians onboard. It's fine by me, they're a good crew. I feel I want to defend this because of the work involved. Undecided

with no attacks there's no need for defence. Everyone has an opinion & is entitled to it. Who agrees with their likes/dislikes is of no consequence.
