How often do you wash your caravan?

We washed our van today and the roof was absolutely filthy.  I wondered how often people wash their vans.  Also, do you use anything special for the windows (inside or out).

I wash our van every time we return home from a trip. This works out at 6 times a year. As we are away for anything upto 11 wks at a stretch I will also clean off the front, and occassionally the back, if muddy. I wash the van down with water first, including
the windows, then a wash with Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner, but not the windows, then after rinsing off with clean water I sponge the whole van, outside, with Fenwicks Bobby Dazzler, including the windows. Takes me most of a day to do it to my satisfaction. Inside
I use a normal window cleaner.

Current van has a coating that makes it very easy to wipe off with water and micro fibre cloths. This we do fairly regularly while on site. It gets a full clean inc the roof once a year when it is serviced. For the Windows use Autoglym fast glass, inside and out.

We get the storage staff to wash it down, they charge £25 but they do a good job including the roof. We  get it done usually each time we go out unless it's been a dry trip beforehand.

Usually about twice a year. The front and back might get a quick wipe over if I've picked up a bit of road spray.

I wash the whole van before every trip away, using Fenwick's, a long handled through flow brush and a sponge on the windows.

Usually the motorhome gets it "big" wash twice a year this is when the whole van gets washed and polished including the roof. Throughout the year the back and front gets cleaned usually after each trip this helps to make it easier to keep clean.

Front gets washed every time we remove from storage, prior to fitting the towcover. Complete wash & wax before Easter, then a full wash as & when required.

All the van every time out, I don't mind it coming back home  in a mess, but never leaving home dirty.

Once in the Spring if it comes out of storage and needs it and then it usually gets a bucket or two of cold water on the front when affected by road dirt/rain. Rarely gets another big wash until winter before the bag goes over the top. Inside is a different
    story though...spotless thanks to OH.

Complete wash and polish about 3 times, once in the spring before going abroad, then when we come back and again at the back end of the year. In between times it gets rinsed off as often as it needs it, a couple of times a week if travelling in bad weather.

PS it needs it now, only left home 4 days ago and its filthy.

Once or twice per year with a quick swill down if mud and spray on the front.   Don't have time to wash it more often as work full time - certainly not enough time to do it before every trip.   Only just have enough time to load it!

Only when the weather is OK, and to get the farm extrement off the front. Van is parked below bedroom window so can see how dirty it is, have found kids pump action waterpistol filled with dilute washing up water a help when squirted out of the bedroom window
    onto roof!

Got a coating on the caravan but it is washed before we go out in it and on arrival before the awning is put up wiped down with an e cloth. We travel with a cover on the front so it stops dirt and stones chipping it. Hate to see a dirty caravan, they are
an expensive comodity so need looking after and lots of TLC Cool

Before we went on our recent trip, we washed the van - except for the roof.  When we were on the boat watching the other vehicles loading, we saw another Romahome - and it's roof was filthy too!

Question is, how do you wash the roof - assuming that you can't actually stand on it?

    With great difficulty.

I wash my motorhome with one of the brushes they wash wagons with. It screws onto the end of a long tube so can be dipped in the bucket of motorhome shampoo for a wash or  connects to the hosepipe.for a rinse.

Standing, carefully. on to top of step ladders, or using a ladder, the roof can easily be cleaned.
