Best way to cut a hole in floor of Gas Locker?
I intend to fit a refillable gas bottle in my MH and need to drill a hole in the floor of the gas locker to take the fill hose from the fill point on the skirt, through the floor and up to the gas bottle.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can make a neat job inside and out of the hole and to prevent the hose from chafing where it passes through the opening?

Assuming you're going through timber or similar, my preference would be for a Forstner bit because it usually gives a neater cut. Either drill a pilot hole using a very small bit and then drill from top and bottom - or alternatively clamp or screw a piece
of waste wood to the exit side and drill straight through. This will prevent any 'ragginess' on the exit side. Make good screw holes with waterproof filler.0 -
I would use a holesaw for a job like this. They come in sets of different sizes and are cheap too buy.You could drill an oversized hole then lag the gas pipe with pipewrap where it goes through the hole.Again very cheap to buy and very easy to do.

I would use a hole saw with fine teeth, and obviously the hole will have to be much larger than the SS hose diameter to allow the threaded connection to pass through. I'd then shape and screw fix two semi circular wood pieces to reduce the hole to the actual
pipe size after threading through, affix some rubber to the wood pieces before clamping tight to the braided pipe.0 -
Have you considered mounting the filler inside the gas locker? It saves having to make holes in the bodywork and functions perfectly ok.
