It will be difficult to sell on in some cases without up to date CRIS and it's a fairly cheap safety feature. (A friend was caught out last year and lost him some money with the delay). Don't know about the receipt but can't you get a written one from the seller it wouldn't need to be fancy.

Yes it would help if you had a receipt for your van if it was stolen etc. Lost my van in May due to a fire. The Insurance Company require all info regarding the van & contents. This includes all or as many as possible for everything that is in or fitted
to the van. Ref the CRIS, lost mine in the fire. Cost for a copy £10.00, again the insurance need to see these documents should anything happen. The more items you cover the better the out come.0 -
The insurance would not accept this as proof. We spent ages going through what we could remember what was in each individual cupboard etc. Did not have receipts for every thing, but gave a brief year/price purchased. You would be surprised what we carry
in the vans, when it comes to a total inventary of items. On a rainy day, just go through the van contents---WOW.0 -

What you have to produce depends a lot on the insurer and even who there is dealing with the claim. They will ask for proof you own it so getting thr CRIS documentation will help. Even buying privately you should get a receipt from the seller.
If you have no receipt you can produce the bank statement for that date showing any transfer or cash withdrawl or bank loan documents. Do however photograph it in several different locations. Receipts for larger items also help.
Receipts for everything are not needed and if the insurer is in your opinion being unreasonable then complain.
