Can I empty clean water onto pitch?

The problem is where do you drain down your caravan's water heater if not on the pitch? Would anyone suggest hitching up tow the van onto the road then get back in to open the valve?
You could always use the MHSP on the way out. I won't complain but some might .
well yes, but difficult to place the caravan with its drain tube somewhere exactly over the MH drain?
Tis reported that CC Ltd is installing grids to make it easier for MHers and cater for those that find manoeuvring a little too challenging.
..Thats another bit of site entertaiment going

No more of that for me. It seems that dumping on the pitch is acceptable so that will be my approach from now on
If you must then could I interest you in attaching one of these to the outside of your Motorhome

10 litre of water drained onto a pitch is the equivelent of 1cm of rain over 1 square metre... so not very much at all! If it drains out over 2 square metres, thats 0.5 cm (or a 1/5th of an inch of rain equivelent). Hardly worth worrying about! Dumping the
entire contents of an aquaroll in one place might be more of an issue, but in the trees, etc. should be much better than putting high quality drinking water straight down the drain.0 -
When packing up I run the hot water into the wastemaster to help rinse it out, therefore only cold water drains from the boiler which I drain on the pitch, after all it will be under the next van that arrives. The waste is taken to the waste drain and any
remaining fresh water is emptied around any nearby hedge, tree etc. I always leave a bit of water in a container the van to get any mud etc. off the front of the caravan when I get back to the storage facility after the journey back.0 -

Ok you can suggest it but I'll just empty on the pitch thanks
yet MHers are expected to be able to manage this task....
youve just highlighted how useless the MHSPs on most sites are, so perhaps (as this seems to be the norm) ill just dump water all over the pitch....
i saw someone (a caravanner obviously) a year or so back kick two Aquarolls over and let them drain (60 odd ltrs at a guess) all over the pitch for the next visitor....
i was horrified, yet now read here that this is totally the norm for the majority....
why not walk your half filled barrels back to the water point and kick them over there where they can drain properly and drain your boiler when you get home over your own drive on in the storage area if thats where you have to go....
.it would be interesting to see the storage owners take on 'only a bit of water....' all over his compound...

I was talking about emptying the boiler water on the pitch (not the aquaroll, about 10L) and the difficulty of aligning the drain tube (unknown location somewhere under the van) then either putting the steadies down or getting into the van while hitched
up, getting back into the caravan to open the valve, take the steadies down and then drive offBut your point is taken

Some people have said they would like better drained grass pitches. How does that stack up with dumping your unwanted water on them?
I would think quite well. If the dainage on a grass pitch is unable to deal with 10L maximum of (cold) water heater water, then it is not fit for purpose. Or at the very least they should have temporarily been removed from service.

Corners, the location of your drain tube is only unknown because you havent looked where it is....all MH are required to do this as, by not doing so, will inevitibly result in sparaying their waste everywhere but in the right place....
...and surely you dont need to wind steadies down to step into the van to open a valve?
so, really, no different to the process that we (MHers) are 'required' to carry out?
its easy once you (are prepared to) get the hang of it....

I have not been following this topic but the difficulty I have with anyone dumping water onto a pitch is that it is obviously clean water if a caravanner is emptying an aquaroll but any other source of dumping may not be so and could be seen as offensive.
In any case how much effort is actually required to dump fresh water from an acquaroll at a disposal point after all you fetched it in the first place!Hope I am not repeating what has been said before.

Because it drains well. (clean water only of course.)

"Can I empty clean water onto the pitch".
Hardstanding, yes. Grass, no. Our water heater always gets drained onto a hardstanding pitch before we leave, along with the remains of the aqua roll contents.

Not all of us have readily identifiable potable or grey water containers, so folk will not always be aware of the nature of that being dumped on site/pitches! Best I suppose is just to do the correct thing, set the example for the uneducated or new members and take it just those few extra yards to the proper and intended service point drain!

spot on, Micky.
...its not really difficult to take it back from whence it came (and where its supposed to go).....anything else (notwithstanding that its antisocial etc) is just plain laziness.
if you have to go there to empty your wastemaster, why not do the whole job properly?
perhaps we could start leaving a few bags of rubbish on the pitch when we leave......after all, its only a bit of litter....

What surprises me is the amount of folk who when leaving site pull up right outside toilets/ chem point with caravan in tow or MH just to empty cassette and go for last pee. Any bets that they are often the ones who empty water on pitches too?

except we don't have to do it, we empty 10L of clean water onto a pitch.
Everyone's choice but I was taught it's not a good idea to get into a caravan once it's hitched without at least one steady

I think some are getting their aqua rolls, wastmasters and boiler emptying mixed up. I am sure if all the leaving caravaners went to the Motorhome service point to empty their boilers, motorhomes would be the first to complain, that they could not get to empty their waste, because of caravans queueing to empty 10L of water, that could of been put on the pitch.

You should see the disgusting state done MH-ers Ieave the MHSP in. Some give no thought to rinsing down the drain area after them.
I must add that in 40+ years of cvanning/MHing, I have never drained my water heater other than at the end of a season. There's no point, in my view. The weight is minimal and the element is less likely to corrode with water in the boiler. neither have I
ever disposed of clean water on a pitch. Under a hedge, in a flower bed, around a tree, yes, but not on the pitch itself.0 -

Leaving the boiler all season is not possible if it is an Alde. Not unless you want to cause damage and possibly invalidate any warranty.

I put a bucket under the caravan where the spout from the hot water tank is when emptying it. Then if we're on a field rally I'll either spread it amongst the bushes, if on a campsite I'll take it to the drain. Same with disposing of water in the aquaroll.

My truma combi is never emptied until end of season and frost is imminent, that leaves the aquaroll which with planning is nearly empty at the end of my stay, and gets chucked in the hedge/border (the remaining water that is, not the aquaroll) .

Where did you get that information Steve? I have heard it said before but no one has been able to show me any Alde documentation to say such.
And my comment above includes two vans with Alde. That's a new one on me, Steve, and I can confidently say it is possible to leave it undrained without causing damage.

Same here Tinster, I never drained mine either. It worked every year I cranked it up again
