Ime not sure who runs this or even if Ime on the correct page if not perhaps you can direct me ?

Me and the wife were going away in the van in September , she,s been ill for some time and she passed away a month ago

devastating awful Ime not feeling sorry for myself but have been feeling dreadful ,as you would imagine

i decided to go away for a break from everything at a caravan club site but I think mostly couples would be upsetting so I saw the solos thing and think that talking to others this has happened to might be therapeutic , Ime really not sure , my loss is still very raw so what do you think ? A good idea or go to an ordinary club site

thanks for listening

Alan

I am sorry that your post got buried in a lengthy discussion, don't be put off by that.

There are lots of friendly people who also travel alone and would welcome your company.

I cannot copy my reply to your original post or another lengthy discussion may ensue but do look for a meet that you would like to attend and just turn up I am sure you will be made very welcome.

One life live it

Kind regards

Chris

    Hi Alan

Welcome to solo touring!  Sorry to hear about your loss.  There are a lot of the solo group who are in the same position but have continued to enjoy caravanning and motorhoming.  I hope that you will feel able  to join some of us at a meet soon.  Also, if
you are planning to go away somewhere yourself, if you post dates and where you are going on the forum, people may join you.

    Good luck and happy camping!

    Carolyn

Good post, Chris. I was concerned the OP had been overlooked.

Having once been in your situation, maybe try a CL, not so may couples about and may give you a bit of "space" . Take Care there is no right or wrong way to what you are going through, just your way

I think a Mod might move this Alan''s question to parts?  or somewhere?

    Moderator Edit:

Unfortunately, we don't have the facility to move a single post so I'll have to leave Alan's post where it is unless he decides to repost.  See my post below.

Alan in Devon - welcome to the Solos chat - so sorry to hear of your loss.  I am about to go to Devon for a while so if you are anywhere near the Tavistock area perhaps we could meet for a cup of coffee and a chat?  I took the leap to join a Solo meet almost three years ago and have had some great times since then making new friends.  You could contact me by email pippah_uk@yahoo.com if interested or able to meet up for a chat about lone caravanning etc.  I think its a matter of choice about what sort of site - there are a lot of couples everywhere but obviously fewer on CLs - which I like anyway.  I think as Chris said at the beginning - its important to just get out there and Go For it!  Smile

Alan (Old biker) this thread is for a poster in Devon also called Alan with the Avatar "Alonso." You need to post your question in another section of the forum, maybe the towcar section? This is area of the forum is for people travelling solo.

Hi Alan - sorry that you're having a bit of difficulty posting. Be patient, many of our members are possibly out and about during the day. Pop in later and check for response.

Hi Alan I lost my wife last September, I understand how  difficult it is. Give it a try there are many kind and sympathetic people out there, more people on club sites less on CL's do your own thing but give it a chance. Best wishes and good luck Clive

You are in the Solos section of the forum, Alonso. You will see there are various threads you can contribute to or you can start your own.

For non-Solo related discussions you have the numerous other sections to look at.

Alan - you are in the right section - there is a Thread called Diary Dates that is a Sticky (Stickies remain high on the page).  Also Solos chat in the Awning is a general chat area - and "Last Minute Breaks" is probably where I will post my whereabouts
when I have finished assisting my daughter for the next couple of weeks in Devon.  I will make up my mind where or IF I explore more down there depending on how the next two weeks go and how the weather is looking for the next bit.  I hope you find what you
are looking for and get a good break.

Hi Alan To find others areas scroll to the top of this page and you will see a heading in red typeface. Click in the part that says Solo Caravanning and Touring and you will find what you are looking for to the left of the page in separate headings.

    Hope this helps

Well directed Chris - I was wondering how he found this thread if he couldn't find the others - although my suggestions weren't 100% accurate given the new titles and my carelessness!  I have never thought of how you get there!

Alan, if you get to Dulverton have a look in the site information room, you'll often find details of various solo groups in there (in other CC information rooms too)  good luck! Smile

It was just a thought Alan - Devon seems a much larger county than I imagine its a pig of a journey from my daughter to my brother who lives near Witheridge - I got hideously lost on those backroads earlier this year!  Missed a turn in Morchard Bishop and
had to enlist a dog walker to see me round between parked cars!  I won't be doing that again.  I hope you get a break away somehow.
