***Holiday Meet*** 29.07.16- 09.08.16 Corfe Castle
This is a Holiday Meet at Norden C&CC THS in Dorset.
Set in the boundarys of Corfe Castle Village, with plenty there try to do and see. This holiday coincides with Swanage Carnival and all that it involves. The site is directly opposite the entrance to the Steam railway which terminates at Swange Town Centre. Beautiful beaches are a lovely drive away, so is Lulworth Cove! Monkey World, Wareham and much, much more to see and do!

When you say Norden C&CC THS in Dorset do you actually mean Catseye Cottage Campsite only I can't find any campsite called Norden but Catseye Cottage is in Norden? I thought it sounded rather nice taking a single site break with all that going on around
it but not sure where I should book.0 -
Hi, it's a field opposite the carpark entrance to the steam railway at Norden. The field belongs to Norden farm! There is no electric, toilets etc, however the toilets in the carpark are open and can be used. There is waste disposal and toilet emptying!
It's a very large field that is little used ran by the Camping and caravan club, so have to be a C&CC member. It's on page 104 of the C&CC magazine priced £10.50 a night. No Booking required you just turn up!i have been to the site twice before, brilliant time both times!

Dont know what happened there. I replied but it just vanished down the earth spike. Can't see it in the magazine, is the on line version any different to the paper one? I got page 104 with lots of dates around yours but couldn't find it. Never mind if

Follow signs to Corfe Castle, then as you get near Norden, follow signs to the Steam Railway. Leave round about first exit, cross railway and take first field entrance on left. If you miss it, you can turn in the bus part of the railway on the right!
There will be signs on the verge and on the gate, it is just literally the other side of the railway crossing!

I think the confusion is that the dates of the THS are July15-August12 according to the C&CC mag. I assume you are refering to a solos meet there on the dates you quote

Write your comments here... Yes! Just from the 29th onwards, I can't have a month off to cover the whole THS time., so meeting to cover the Swanage CarnIval week plus!

As time goes by, Summer will be with us soon, so don't forget to add your name to the list.
This is a nice site, although no toilet block or electric, it is easy to survive on 12v and LPG. If you have solar panels, it is easier to not have to worry about 12v.
we have been to this site twice now, both times we have had excellent weather, so join in! You would be most welcome!

I'll be that way and would like to drop in, but what is a THS, please? Do I have to join the C&CC to join y'all?

The Diary Dates thread isn't easy to follow and is very cluttered with 'chat' if I may be so impertinent to say so. (Oh dear, does that observation black ball me from attending anything?)

Hi Spriddler you can join C&CC on site at Corfe Castle (Norden) however the CC do usually have a rally on the opposite side of the road so the choice is yours. A THS is a temporary holiday site usually just a field with water and a toilet waste disposal
point. I shall be there on my return from Spain, we have had two great meets there l hope you can make it0 -

I don't really want to join another club as I don't travel much in U.K., being only a 15 mile drive from Dieppe! (Once I'm on the ferry at Newhaven I consider I'm already 'abroad').
I gather that a THS is a C&CC 'members only' but temporary site, a sort of temporary CC 'CL' (or 'CS' as I believe the C&CC call them) not an open to all site. Cuh! will I ever get used to these terminologies?
I'm sure it's not just me as I use several (motorbikers') message boards but I must say that I find using the CC website hard work as it's not at all user friendly.
I'm off shortly to France/Spain for an undecided period but if back in time I'll make an effort to drop in to Norden.

Not been any activity on this one for a long time so I'm hoping that it is still on. I'm turning up anyway 'cos I need a break and all my other holiday plans have been thwarted by an unplanned stay in hospital. Hope to see lots of you there.

There's going to be some entertainment provided too once I arrive. As I'm going to be static for a couple of weeks I decided that it might be a good idea to have an awning. That being the case I have now aquired a nice big blow up one. The thing is I
have never put an awning up before in my life so watching me discover how it is done could be quite a giggle for those watching.0 -
Wow starting on a blow up one eh? that should help sort out the biggest problem that seems to be with awnings - which poles go where! I think I would try and recruit someone to help thread it into the awning rail - I understand that is one of the disadvantages
of blow up ones - its very hard to get it in the rail - but once in it should be easypeasy! Good luck!0 -

Steve get your chair out and camera ready! Might be a fun spectacle! I watched a guy last year trying to figure his out - he also refused help! Good luck Peter - I did find getting Kim to help with my new to me one the first time made it much easier

I'm sure of it Pippa but I'm a fairly practical individual at least average in the practicality stakes so I want to have a go so that I can write to the manufacturers and give them my take on their estimation of how easy and quick their awning is to assemble. I like things like that because you often get a little bit extra for a good report and sometimes even a bit of extra something by way of appology when you write and tell them that their claims are wrong. In addition it will give me a clue for the future as to whether I can assemble the thing entierely on my own whilst having the comfort blanket of help nearby in case I can't.

Good thinking Peter. I have just tackled my gazebo it hasn't been out of the shed for two years. My neighbour didn't pick up the hint that assistance would be appreciated so he must be very busy! He did take my van tyres off yesterday for me to take to
be checked and put them back on. Thank goodness the over inflating hadn't done any harm. And the damage I did driving with the mover on had a second opinion and deemed safe again. I thought I migut be in for new tyres so that was a relief. The gazebo roof
was the most challenging to get up solo but all in all I am pleased with meeting the challenge. Just hope the weather justifies the effort!0
