The Family Traveller Awards acknowledge and congratulate the best of the best from Best Long Haul Accommodation, to Best Family Cruise Line, and everything else in between.

The Caravan Club has been shortlisted in three categories in the Family Traveller Awards:

•             Best family festival for Big Little Tent Festival

•             Best UK accommodation for families for The Caravan Club

•             Best multi-generational family holidays for The Caravan Club

    Why vote?

    The club gives a reasonable service for a reasonable cost.

    The big problem is that the clubs main point of direct communication with many of it's customers is one of the oldest, out of date and user unfriendly forums on the internet.

    The above fact is bad enough but when the organisation refuses to respond to complaints it just rubs salt in the wounds!

    How can a club say it's family friendly when it puts the prices up so much during school holidays.

    The CC should go out of its way to encourage families, they are the caravanners of the future. . IMO the CC have a long way to go before they achieve this.

    How is the Big Little Tent Festival a family festival?  It's a camp out in your own garden with the added joy of tweeting pictures to others. It certainly isn't Camp Bestival, or any of the dub meets.

    Think I must have missed something somewhere - I've certainly don't find the club family friendly for our 10 year old daughter!

    It's a question of whether the family friendly initiatives have transferred successfully on to site. I think there's a way to go. 

     I congratulated the CC on being nominated but my vote went elsewhere

    I would put Haven streets ahead of the "club" for being family friendly. High season prices maybe a fraction higher than say, Hillhead, but you get far more things for the kids to enjoy for your money at Haven.

    They don't put their prices up during school holidays though, do they?

    Most companies in seasonal industries, which offer a discount on normal prices during periods of lower demand,  don't discount prices during times of high demand (which school holidays help create).

    The CC, for all its faults, is no different in that respect and can't be expected to be different.

    I don't think so.....

    Yes, in exactly the same way that clothes are sold off at a discount in end of season sales, the same way that Christmas card and Easter egg prices fall after the event and the same way that off peak travel fares are lower than peak fares.

    Businesses set their prices at levels that are sustainable in periods of high demand and then discount them to try to boost sales at periods of lower demand. The overall aim is to make the required profit over the full year. Cuts in the higher prices would
    not be compensated by increased business at periods of lower demand.

    Well just using a broad brush approach, from some of the figures quoted in recent threads. The likes of Haven put up their prices some 500% above the special offer rates. Whilst the CC is more in the order of 170%. It is just that the CC don't go as low
    or high as Haven. True Haven offer more, but it does depend if you want it.

    I have a feeling that Center Parcs might just nudge us out of the medals in the  best accommodation for families section .

    Centre Parks are expensive all  the time ,and a lot of the activities cost are over and above the "standard" advertised price,but if thats what people want?

    The vote is for family friendly accommodation. If Center Parcs doesn't win I'll be very surprised. It got my vote.

    Now doesn't that just illustrate the point I was making? If the low rates were the norm and the high rates special then the low rates wouldn't be special offers would they?
