Did I blink and miss a frame I only saw a partial view of one shoulder and couldn't make out either way. Then again perhaps
I missed the revealing shot. The MH was a rear lounge layout, Dave, with kitchen and washroom between that and the cab. If GC was not in the cab, he had to be on a sideways facing seat in the rear but, as DK said, it is not necessarily breaking the law which
is complex. Daft, yes, but illegal, possibly.Cheers Tinny, that explains and shows my knowledge of motorhomes
There's no reason why you should have a knowledge of MHs, Dave. If you were thinking of buying one you'd make a point of finding out. Otherwise, why clutter the brain?
Ta, I feel much better now

It appears that the general consensus is that we would like CG to resign, issue a public apology and be prosecuted for a seatbelt illegality. We are fortunate, considering other events around the world, that this is all have to get incensed over. Re the seatbelt issue - it would, of course, be necessary to prove that the vehicle was in motion and on a public road when that sequence was filmed.

Sir Bruin, you have omitted public flogging, castration, and being hung drawn and quartered; of course if he survives a Royal pardon would then be in order .
Write your comments here...I'm sorry DD - Your suggestion is, in my opinion, taking things just a bit too far.

DD, I apologise for my omissions. I was concerned that I would carried away and lose my sense of proportion. :-)

I see the official line is that CC allowed the BBC to film COTY. Responsibility must, therefore, rest squarely on the shoulders of CC as it appears to have been all their idea.

Even the weather presenters are choreographed these days.
Only on "Strictly"

It may have been their idea to invite the film crew TW but don’t you think that the BBC production team heavily edited the event and took the opportunity to impose their spin to show what they thought would be the most entertaining. Unfortunately they were given plenty of ammunition from the organisers and contestants.

Still, CC are proud to admit their ownership of the competition so we must all be wrong in our views of it.

People of the caravanning world who are getting all high and mighty at what was just a bit of fun and not something that should be taken seriously might I suggest you use the energy you are expending on venting your spleen on this TV programme to have a
look around you at the real injustices of the world and put things into perspective. You might even find a cause worth getting het up about!!!0 -

serious subjects on this forum.0 -

I'm sure we are all well aware of the injustices in the world which can be addressed elsewhere but this is a thread on a caravanning forum discussing COTY. As far as I can see there is only one person taking a high
and mighty stance.0 -

Hmmmm Its a bit rich to accuse others of being "high and mighty". You assume those who have chosen to use the CC forum to comment upon a CC issue do nothing about 'real injustices"..

How can anyone be sure that the BBC put their own spin on the programme and editted it accordingly? We can't but we saw what we saw. Perhaps GC and others in CC HQ thought it reflected the serious side of caravanning. I have only seen episode one but didn't
notice anyone laughing at themselves about how they messed up, especially GC and his hill climb attempt. Personally I think the whole thing has backfired on the CC and reflected badly on its members. Those that think it was all intended as a bit of fun please present
your evidence. The vast majority on CT don't see it that way.0 -

I think you misunderstood some of the minority posts, mine being one of them. In my mind the intention by the title was something of a serious nature, it didn't happen so we agree there.
The difference is that it doesn't bother me, I'm not upset by it, I'm not leaving the CC, I'm not asking for anyones resignation, I'm not afraid to appear before my neighbours, I will not wear a mask when tugging in case I'm recognised, I'm not a sad individual and I do not know anyone who hates me ....... well, there is one
As I have said before, I use the Club for my benefit and when/if that disappears I will leave. After the preview on Youtube I knew what to expect and sat in front of the TV to laugh at the daft antics and was not disappointed in that.
Why you get uptight over a TV programme is quite honestly, beyond me. I shall happily tootle on my way with my 'van' while you all sulk over this

We are delighted to announce that our ‘Caravanner of the Year’ competition was filmed by the BBC and will be on BBC2 on 20 and 27 April!
We hope it gets you in the mood for getting out there and enjoying the summer season on our wonderful sites network.
The enthusiasts were faced with a variety of challenges covering activities such as manoeuvring, navigation, hospitality and caravanning knowledge. There was also the precision challenge of the Concours D’Elegance which demanded much polishing and primping of their vehicles!
The first programme will introduce the entrants and whittle them down to the three finalists.
Tune in and watch, and don’t forget to tell your friends and family about it too!
Follow us on Twitter @CaravanClubCOTY and like our Facebook page Caravanner of the Year and don’t forget to use the hashtag! #caravanclubCOTY
What utter trash, a monumental waste of airtime!.. both the Club, and the BBC have successfully made us all look like very sad individuals in front of millions who already hate us being on the road!
Is this where my TV licence, club membership and site fees get wasted on?
Don’t forget to use the hashtag! #caravanclubCOTY

I used to be a keen windsurfer.....and I got so annoyed when some reporter, who had no knowledge of the sport at all, would start to blather on about people clad in colourful neoprene suits......prats!
I'm now keen on cycling (watching and doing) and get equally annoyed by reporters blathering on about people in lycra......as though that's the main thing about cycling.
So it comes as no surprise that the BBC would concentrate and magnify things like reversing and erecting an awning, as though that is all that caravanners do.
We don't own an awning and I almost always use the mover to reverse onto a pitch.
But I found the contestants fairly pleasant people (like most people on site) but maybe not people I'd want to see every week.
But the main thing is, we caravan because it's a cheap way to go on holiday and we would never be able to have seen so much of our country (and France) without a caravan. That aspect wasn't covered by the programme......it concentrated more on people caravanning for caravanning's sake (I'm afraid to say......what rallying seems to me ) and not what a huge number of people do.
I look at neighbours and friends, who have their week or two weeks holiday each year and I think......how sad. We get away all the time. So who comes across as the most interesting?

Neoprene, then Lycra. So tell us about this clothing fetish then, Ian.

Rocky's not a horror
Oh, im a horror all right, even more so if it ever gets out I indulge in textual intercourse with all you LV'ing types. Particularly so now the COTY has hit the screens-being a horror is the least of my problems
