Perhaps the chairman will sell his wedgewood to fund the repairs to his c'van instead of claiming off his insurance and hence contributing to the increase in premiums of members who insure  via the club assuming he insures his c'van the same way.

The powers that be in the CC should hang their heads in shame, they have IMO brought the reputation of the club and its members into disrepute

What complete and utter tosh this first programme was - the BBC will always edit a caravan programme to turn it into a p*ss take, and the Caravan Club's naievity has allowed this happen.  I can only assume the Club entered this exercise with good intentions,
but for goodness sake this programme is an embarrassment to members.  What a mess.

Goodness that's 10 pages of new posts since I last checked in earlier today.  So to summarise, has anyone had a reply from the CC to their emails, or has anyone from the CC posted on here?

Aside from the embarrassment suffered by Club members and the caravan community in general, there may be serious harm to the industry. Someone with no previous experience of caravanning who was considering the purchase of a caravan might well deduce that
what they saw was an accurate reflection - after all the programme was created with the full support of the (previously) most respected and prestigious establishment for UK caravanning.

The chairman and whichever members of his comittee supported this lunacy should resign forthwith.

Have not seen any explanation as yet From the Comedy Club or Caravan Club which ever is the more appropriate title.

A statement from the chairman or even a collective explanation if more appropriate would be most welcome as I would like to make a informed vote at the next election or is it none of the above?.

What a load of total rubbish I could only describe the CC Chairman as a total fool. How did this person ever get elected.

This programme can only have caused damage to the club and the image of its members. It makes us all look like a load of total idiots.

Well  it  seems  as  though  the  Beeb  has  found  Three  ******  to  replace Jewemy  Crapson,  the  Hamster  &  T'  Captain !

And  all  at  our  expense  Yell

Yes, the BBC will not have put one penny towards it's production - they will just give it airtime (and it's not impossible that they may have charged a fee for it's airing)

Well, what a furore, wherever you look on social media. And rightly so. What on Earth is the Caravan Club thinking? You've managed to make all of us caravanners look ridiculous, by putting geeks and eccentrics in front of the cameras! Surely the Caravan
Club should be promoting caravanning and not opening us all up to ridicule and perpetuating old myths. You have perpetuated a widely held view (and one that hitherto has only been promoted by Top Gear) that we are all eccentrics and geeks! The Caravan Club
has truly let us all down. Your Communications Department really has messed up this time. And how you are going to limit the damage with another 'episode' scheduled Heavens only knows. This has done irreparable damage and made fools of the vast majority of
your 'normal' members. You should hang your heads in shame.

    Write your comments here...

Oh dear.  I hope the contestants in last night's programme are not reading these comments.  They might well be offended to be called geeks and eccentrics. I know I would.  There are all sorts of people who caravan and are members of CC and I don't think
we should be rude about any of them.

Sorry, but from the Chairman down, they were a bunch of incompetant idiots  - and I hope they read this...

Well I watched all of the programme but could only stomach 16 pages of this thread Laughing How predictable and sadly set to run
and run at least until the next episode anyway.

My only comment is - for goodness sake some people really need to lighten up, these are obviously not the best the club could muster - they simply represent the widest spectrum of members out of those who applied ! All of them blatent vanity applicants wanting
to show off their respective outfits. The fact that they weren't even told they would both have to do the reversing challenge shows how much they knew they were letting themselves in for. As for the BBC wanting to do this...its a reality show = cheap laughs,
why wouldn't they? I'm sure the judges got to see it before it went out but probably only just before and they certainly would have had no imput into how it was cut and spliced together. I howled too, all the "we don't do that !" and "OMG it's not rocket science!"
but at the end of it all - it was funny (except for Andy Harris goading Grenville into that hill climb and then gloating with his "I can go anywhere because I've got a motorhome" jibe - I'd love to see him stuck in the mud and needing a tow off-field)

I'll be watching next week, NOT to see anyone titled "Caravanner of the Year" (really bad choice of name IMHO) but they probably wouldn't have got any entries if they have really said what it entailed, but because it was entertaining.

Write your comments here...I am assuming that as there was Swift Group Product Placement at the start that they "may" have somehow made a contribution.  I know that Sterling were on Facebook last night and asked me for my thoughts on the programme.

Help me out here, try as I might, I cannot find, anywhere on the website, the SELF DESTRUCT button, now obviously the "management" know where it is as they have just used it, but I just can't see it, wonder how many synchronised keys and coded messages it
took to use it..........Just wondering :-)

At least the guardian kind of liked it http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/apr/21/caravanner-of-the-year-tv-review-24-hours-police-custody.

And just a point, if the competition is for couples surely the title is missing an apostrophe and a s somewhere along the way (or just an s... I can never remember the rules on that one!!)

I feel let down.  I have caravanned (and more recently motorhomed) for 25+ years, I extol the life. I tell peolpe opf what they're missing - yet no-one who is not in the know "gets it".

Their belief of caravanning was perfectly typified on Wednesday when adenoidal "experts" were expolited totally by the media to portray the pre-conceived belief.

Where are the children, the bikes, kites, the smell of bacon and eggs?  How can the fun of relaxing in your outfit be advertised by a race to put up the perfect awning followed by a cup of tea.  Surely this task is only done
    with.a stubby in your hand?

Mr Chairman - I peeked between my fingers as you damaged your van yet actually gloated - a review suggests you now have £750 worth of Wedgewood.  At that point I actually left the room.  Please don't brag in public, very unbecoming.

There was though a fantastic highlight, two magnificent ladies successfully reversing - Well Done.

I hope I have mis-judged this programe, I seriously hope I am wrong, but I fear the damage may have already been done.

Clearly someone is removing posts they don't agree with. Grow a pair and let us mere members know WTF your playing at......If your complicit be prepared to justify yourselves. ?....you cannot censor all social media.....this is only going to get worse....just remember your not as big as Tesco or Vw.....bigger names have disappeared from the world than the CC who ignore what's staring them in the face.

He he, im afraid the highpoint for me was our esteemed chairman getting his physics wrong and grounding the rear of his caravan, made him put his tape measure away anyway. Whatever possesed him to do the program ?? It will take him along while to live it
    dowm.
