Dave FL2 a breath of fresh air.I could not agree more.I regularly despair of some of the letters in the magazine, but now I can happily despair at the inane, small minded folks largely pursuing this strand,Caravanning has always been all things to all men,and
always will be.It is a leisure activity and as such encompasses lots of different aspects.I do not want to see stupid pictures of peoples pets but if that is their thing.o.k.

I think it's safe to say that Caravanner of the Year 2017, won't see the light of day!

Nearly spilt my cider, best laugh in a long time. It's not a sad day, the sun is shining, blue sky, my caravan is being prepared for an adventure, we are not at war. Just a programme making fun at our pastime, I'll watch it again next week and then move on. I'm more worried about the sanity of the Clubs members, giving up membership, never using a Club site again, jumping off the Humber bridge, does it really affect you so deeply? Exactly what difference will it make to your planning, pitching, erecting, sitting out and enjoying your chosen hobby.

If it had been advertised as such I could have lived with it but it was not.  It did the credibility of CC Ltd and its member plus any other caravanner / motorhomer a lot of damage.

It may affect the Clubs integrity, it certainly won't affect me, I shall carry on as before. I use the Club for my benefit and if that does not suit me at some point I'll look elsewhere, but a silly programme has not got me slashing my wrists.

I walked into our village today and nobody shouted or jeered at me as if I was a second class citizen.

Well I enjoyed it. Light entertainment and not to be taking to serious. But some of the remarks on this thread make me laugh even more.

Indeed. I`m amazed that somebody hasn`t complained that the flags on the front of the Cheltenham caravan might flap in the breeze at night and ruin a nights sleep....

I bet that the Lunar van that had the back end ripped off will not have to wait six months for a new back pannel, also I would think that there will be no problem with the claim, IMO I would say it is miss use of equipment and make him pay for the repair,
but I think that will not happen. As for the program last night, it was just a joke.Frown

My advice is for the members to take an extra blood pressure tablet and have an afternoon nap, there there it'll be alright tomorrow.

I watched the programme last night with some intial enthusiasm for what I hoped would promote the pleasure of caravanning and the professionalism of the Caravan Club. Sadly the programme missed both objectives. It was a farce or what would have been better
described as "Carry on Camping". The tests were unreal and to witness Grenville damage the rear of his caravan when he should have known better was a disgrace. As a Caravanner for the past 40 years I am used to ridicule by non caravanners but this has laid
the club "my club" open to further ridicule. The times suggested Grenville was "Mr Manwaring" with a desire for cleaning. The inuendo's were unwelcome and best left to the professional comedians in the future. PLEASE DROP ANY IDEA OF MAKING THE COMPETITION
ANNUAL. CC please concentrate on Membership drives, club services and improving further your professional approach to the club. Full Makes to Nick Lomas for all he does but sadly 0 for Grenville's first acting part.

Who on earth thought that programme was a good idea ??? I would suggest CC stops the BBC from showing the rest of the episodes so what integrity we have left as caravanners after last nights debarkle can be repaired. There should be some resignations...or
sackings for those responsible for putting our credibility back 20 + years.I am looking at my membership renewal as I write this, and am seriously wondering about renewing, if we are run by people like this. I am also on various caravanning facebook pages,
have a read of some of those to see how people now regard the CC, and us..,it's members.

Write your comments here...Of course Dave there is nought to get all hot and bothered about. What was seen on last nights show is so familiar to the rallying fraternity. Thats what rallies are about. The chairman was just catering for the regional and district
    centres.

OK Dave, we get the message. You liked the programme and you think the majority in this thread are overreacting. It's clear that most of the posters in this thread are concerned about the image of caravanning being tarnished, the reputation of the Club that
we are all paying members of and the future of our hobby and what it represents. Whilst you are entitled to your opinion as is everybody else, you don't need to suggest we all monitor our blood pressure! You intimated you found the programme enjoyable and
thats fine, why can't you leave it at that?

How nice it's been to see so many new and different posters taking part in this thread. There have been many, many threads knocking CC and presenting a negative image of caravanning and the Club to anyone reading the forum. Why have you waited until now
    to post?

Carry on posting and let's have an injection of new blood into CT. Goodness knows, it needs it.

The unfortunate part is that we as members paid good money in the form of membership fees etc to be ridiculed!

Wow what invective. I thought I might be alone in thinking this dire programme was dreamt up by someone with a grudge against caravans and, sadly, motorhomes. This forum has cheered me up no end. Damage done, however. Maybe we shall all have to travel under
the cover of darkness in future. Our esteemed Chairman should perhaps "consider his position", as they like to say in politics.

446 posts and counting on a subject fit to stir the most apathetic caravanner, having been made fools of....and, as has been said, not a word from the Caravan Club? I wonder what's going on at HQ? Surely they can't have missed this furore..........?

Maybe its a bit like watching my football team hopeless first half, then great second half. Lets hope so, as it hasn't helped the club or the image of caravanning so far.

So will bite my tongue and reserve judgement until next week, come on CC fight back for your supporters.

Given that it is OUR club and there seems to many who share my disbelief at this debacle, perhaps it is time to be looking for formal apologies or perhaps even resignations.

Such appalling judgement must not be allowed to prosper.

Since it was made last year and features the three finalists from this week's episode, I doubt if it will improve with aging.

Write your comments here...Can I ask on what basis you assume that most people on this forum would fail a reversing test. Has there been a survey by the CC that I missed. I certainly cannot recall seeing the question on a site booking form or being asked
the question by a warden. Sure there are some people who cannot reverse but as for the majority.......

Might the glaring lack of official comment be due to everyone at H.O. falling on their own swords as the buck is passed further and further down the line?

The reversing test was actually a rather stupid idea. Yes there was some superb skill shown by both the Cheltenham owner, and the ex HGV driver, and their spouses. However, to expect the V-dub to push that tiny trailer round was wrong and shows a lack of
understanding as to how small trailers behave. They jack knife instantly, and cannot be seen from a larger vehicle, at least without a flag or spotter. We had one, and we always unhooked it turned it and then rehooked. Easy peasy. Owners used their common
sense and did just that, or refused to do second test.  Just because Grenville managed to do it, having totally balls up another possible scenario, did not make it a good test for such diverse outfits. It was probably far too tight for the twin axle as well,
as they behave differently, although I couldn't help feeling that the caravan expert and his Mum were set up to fail!
