What I want to know is 1. How did they all manage to get hard standing pitches, and with empty pitches opposite, did they all arrive before12am? 2. How did they all manage to pitch together, did someone run in before booking in time and save a space? 3. Why
didn't the wardens reprimand them for cleaning the caravan on site? Don't worry that it was a total embarrassment and that no one will now ever want to join the CC, they will just all think there are plenty of hard standing pitches available and you can just
pull in where you want to. Biggest load of rubbish ever!

Write your comments here...There would be cones in place before they arrived

I did write that tongue in cheek Ian HNW.

Rocky, glad to see you know the difference between a programme & a program,

Ian, that wasn't a programme, that was satirical theatre, made solely to put bums on seats. . . .It worked tooLaughing

Am I correct to assume that the Club paid for the repairs to his van - i.e my membership and pitch fees?  Would a Freedom of Information Request to the Club get that answered?

He probebly has caravan club insurerence, just  in case someone asked such a thing

I thought it was great, not from a 'quality programme' perspective but for complete laughter. I must be the only person that got exactly what they expected. The beginning was cringeworthy mind-A Hi-De-Hi set complete with tannoyed Gladys PughLaughing.
That anal list making couple, the Lady was a good driver & good fun, She laughed at Herself quite happily. Roll on next weekHappy

You are absolutely right in what you say, Rocky. It was comedy of the year. The competitors were case studies in themselves.
    Happy

However, as a shop window for CC, it was a disaster and complete farce.

TW, didn't think you were going to watch it.Surprised

I didn't and going by the comments posted on here, it lived up to my expectation of belittleing the caravan fraternity and Caravan Club in general, It sounss like it was a waste of our membership fees, I hope the BBC paid well ...Cool

I'm sure our esteemed Chaiman is cringing tonight and downing a bottle or two of wine after watching that.  I have never laughed so much.  I think the program producers probably sold this slightly diferently to the CC, but the result was another episode of Boomers.   Loved it.  Although very cringeworthy.  Not sure it sold the hobby of caravanning though.

Here's what I said several pages back, BT.

"As for the program, I watched it against my better judgement and it gives me no pleasure to say it exceeded my worst expectations.

Mr Chairman, you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing the Club to be shown in such a light. I hereby call for your resignation forthwith."

Paid for club membership, paid for TV licence and now paying for a new panel for the back of the chairman's van.  What a load of rubbish.  Surely the club could have used this TV opportunity to promote its policy on Diversity and Corporate responsibility
    - Oh sorry I got the club mixed up with a responsible organisation!

Can I suggest that we all call for a vote of no confidence in the committee.

Totally agree, they have brought the club into disrepute. I trust the Chairmand and Director General will resign tomorrow.

Train wreck TV!  Did nothing to enforce "modernisation" of our hobby.  Sad that the opportunity to do something positive appears to have been wasted.

I seriously cannot recall a programme that has done so much damage to Caravanning. This beats Clarkson hands down IMO. Viewers must think that we're all like those portrayed on the programme. Were  our senior officers really being serious? If so I believe
they should consider their positions. The BBC have 'done a job' on our club. I'm ashamed.

Come back Clarkson all is forgiven . Even you didn't do as much damage to our hobby of caravaning as the CC has just done.

What a load of rubbish, how can you have a competition titled caravanner of the year with motorhomes in it, I know you should not laugh but was it not funny when so called expert made a right mess of going up a slope then rolling back. let us have these
competitions but restrict it to caravans only.

I hope you're venting your spleen directly to the club as well? The 'managers' can easlily avoid reading all this thread so I've written to Enquiries. There didn't seem to be a category of ''Television programmes" to complain about.

I'm sorry that I can't identify with those who found the programme amusing. Public relations disaster.

    Disgraceful !

Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear could not have been more dis respectful of the image of caravaning.

No doubt someone from the club will come on bleating they were misrepresented by the producers. Rubbish.

    Shame on you.

I think there are two issues here, Rush. One is the entertainment value of the program and it certainly provided that for the vast majority of the population. The second issue is that the entertainment was provided at the expense of CC and the judgement
of the Chairman should be called into question for allowing it to happen and for making himself appear a complete twonker.
