We go away for a couple of weeks over Christmas and come Mid December set up a few decorations. Any suggestion son how to fit a string of lights to awning rails?

We use small fold back sprung paper clips. Closed ends slide through the rail and fold back handles used to wire lights to. Any other ideas?

Hi  Easy,  I always use the reusable zip ties for plants. I get mine from the local Homebase.  They do them in different lengths. I haven't used Crimbo Decs yet but my awning light is a 5 mt length of high intensity bright white LEDs and I leave the backing paper on and just pop them up with the ties. Works very well and makes a neat job. Also have a switch attached to the pole at the side of the door( whichever we use) and that is attached the same. It's like daylight in there on the blackest of nights!! At the end of the holiday, you have them to use again!

how about attaching the lights to some of
    this
..... maybe  with cable ties & then feeding it into your awning rail

Had thought of that. Would need two lengths (one each side and some cable ties. Probably not as neat as present solution. 15 mm clips about £5 or £6 for a tub of 60. I was thinking if the plastic clips used in aluminium framed greenhouses might be an idea
but don't think they would fit and would possibly turn and pop out.

When our last awning came to the end of it's life we cut the rail beading off the old canvas, Then fastened some ties to the beading. Cost = nil.  We also cut off other parts as possible spares before the awning went in a skip.

How long is your awning rail? Or light string?

I use 1 pack of the fiamma clips posted to hold the EHU cable off the ground along the skirt rail, looping backwards and forards if close to the bollard.

Lights go around almoost the full length of both side's awning rail. I usually support every
300mm to stop sag. So 10m each side. Probably 50 - 60 clips

Drip strip is cheap. Punch a hole every n inches where n is spacing between lights and thread them through.
