Trying to buy a leisure battery from Kwik Fit
Has anyone managed to successfully buy a leisure battry from Kwik Fit.. You can only buy online and then collect at a depot.
I ordered a battery on a Thurs and arranged collection for following Sunday, at 10:00 am which seemed a little over precise. Anyway, turned up at local depot and they new nothing about it. Suggested calling back Tues (day after Bank Holiday). I sent email
of complaint. Called on Tuesday, no battery so they said they would look into it. In the meantime I called "Customer Services" in total for about 1 and1/2 hours and received no reply.
Depot called back on afternoon didn't know when it would be in but had been "authorised" to give me Kwik Fit HR phone number? Called that and actually received a reply. Were a little perplexed at my call but after a little persuasion agreed to to ask "Customer
Services" to call me. After about an hour or two still no call back so rung again; assured I would be called back, apparently Customer Services is a very small team!
Needless to say never had a call back and never a had a response to my complaint email. Now attempting to get my money back.
So surprised that a company with such a large presence can get it so badly wrong.

If you can get your money back try Tayna Batteries. In most cases your purchase will be delivered to your home the following day.
Excellent company to buy a battery from.

Not that I buy them that often, but I usually get my liesure batteries from the caravan/camping shop. They normally have them in stock, so I can pay and collect.

I'm another who would never buy anything from Kwik Fit.
Bought our last one from Tayna and got excellent service. They are one of the few companies that will deliver a vehicle battery because most delivery companies cannot be trusted to keep them upright, apparantly.
Ours was a Banner Energy Bull - they have a very good reputation and ours has been very good.
I believe that CC members can get a discount on leisure batteries......not sure of the details though.

Kwik Fit?? Really? I can't imagine that they would be anything better than the 'leisure Batteries' you can buy from any number of caravan dealers which are all made in China and come in on pallet loads. Go for Tanya, Varta, Banner etc. Buy cheap, buy twice.
If you're going to the show, that would be an excellent way to do your research.0 -
"You can't get thicker, than a . . . " As they used to sing.

Am I missing something. I have just checked out the prices on this site and they are ok but the delivery charge is £37.99 that makes one very expensive battery

Crikey yes.
When I bought ours 2 years ago, carriage was £9
I paid £130 for a 110Ah Banner Energy Bull including VAT and delivery. Same now appears to be near to £150.

I bought a couple of 100 Ah Numax batteries from Pure drive batteries, through Amazon. I cycle them as we have a tracker and the van is kept in a storage compound. £80 each. You can pay £8 for next day delivery, but PD usually dispatch same day in any event.
I have had one 4 years the other 2 and pleased with their performance to date.0 -

I bought a Banner Energy Bull, battery several years ago now and its been fantastic. I never look at it ,never check it, it just goes on doing its job, powering my mover to shift a heavy van. Yes I know that the Banner Energy Bull batteries are not cheap
but you really do get what you have paid for!TF

Boat chandleries often have a bigger selection of batteries than caravan/outdoor shops and might be worth a look at...

I have had one 4 years the other 2 and pleased with their performance to date.I remember 'cycling" batteries very well! Running off to the storage every 6 weeks as they advise to change the battery! Needless to say I would find it as flat as a pancake sometimes. Enter Solar Panel! - have never had to do it since!

Thought of it Merve, but we already have a Sat dome on the roof and I did not really want any more weight. However, given that it has been broken more than it has been working, I may well be replacing it with a panel. It would be particularly useful, as
I often struggle to lift the batteries in the tight confines of the storage compound. I must admit before having a tracker, I did not realise the implications on battery useage.0 -

They do seem to be slightly different batteries. One is 115Ah the other 100Ah. Does not really explain the postage cost differential though.
Write your comments here...exactly a battery is a battery so not sure of the differnce unless the price on Ians example is like a loss leader made up by hiking the delivery cost or something?

Having gone through the various batteries on their website site it states that to get the delivery charge for your post code you need to put the chosen battery into the Shopping Basket. It then gives you the appropriate delivery charge. Being shocked at
such a high price and not interested any further I just shut the site down. The following day I received notification from them that I had not completed the order properly and a list of things they could help with to sway the purchase. One was, if I thought
the delivery price was to high then to ring them to negotiate an agreeable price. I took the enquiry no further. It was obvious to me the charge was overcharged in the first place.0 -

Get your money back which you are fully entitled to and go elsewhere. I needed a new battery recently and I just called into a car spares shop, leisure batteries immediately available at a reasonable price.

If there was time to act in a considered way I would never buy a replacement lead acid battery other than from a specialist battery dealer, ideally a
battery wholesaler. Never ever buying a “leisure “ battery from a caravan dealer or very reluctantly from a motor factor.0
