Porch awning for older van

hi hope someone can help! I have a 1995 Coachman Genius, it has the "upside down boat" style v shaped roof. Problem is, this makes my caravan lower at the sides than more modern vans and I want a porch awning as my full size awning just takes forever to
put up and it's too heavy. It seems that pretty much all porch awnings are made to a minimum height of 235cm when my caravan is only about 220-225cm. Is there an awning that will fit and not look stupid? I have been told a normal porch awning will be ok as
long as I peg the sides outwards more to bring it lower? And someone has even suggested using a motorhome driveway awning?! I just don't want to waste money on something that won't work!

help!

Hi Aaron. We briefly had an older Bradcot Portico porch awning that we bought off eBay, but we found that it didn't touch the ground when we put it up, it wasnt tall enough, so sold it on again.  Perhaps something like this would suit?

We currently have 3 awnings: a full awning that, as you found, is just too much to be bothered with, a Kampa 260 for when we need somewhere to put muddy boots, but our current favourite is the Fiamma Caravanstore roll-out awning. Think that's because we've
had such a gorgeous summer though, we haven't experimented with the sides yet...

Thanks! I presume your caravan is a newer one with the higher sides and flat roof? Hence why the bradcott wouldn't touch the ground? Are that type of awning still quite heavy though? I really like the look of the lightweight ones like the kampa 260 but not
sure if I can get it to look right on my van?

Thing is as well, on Bradcots website it states the height of the portico is 235-250cm! The same as most othet porch awnings!

Haha, "newer van" how kind... No it's a 1998 Buccaneer, but it is pretty big. The full awning came with it and is of the same vintage as the van. The Bradcot we had was old and little, so not heavy, but yes, it was a classic style awning.

We had an awning repaired very reasonably by Lancashire sports repairs, perhaps places like this do alterations?

We have just purchased a new Kampa 200 to fit our newish caravan - the reason beaing that the old porch awning we had was too short.  The old one is a Bradcot measuring approx 6ft wide by 5ft deep.  It fit our two older vans just fine (1988 and 1997) as well as parents older van (1990).Funnily enough we will soon be putting the old one up for sale :) Grey sides, fixed side panels but roll up 'glazed' front. Only thing missing from it are the curtains which we never used and have lost.

PS apologies for the mix-up with the post.  I'm a usenetter not a forum person
