I have a powrtouch evolution motor mover which is approx 2 1/2 years old. I only use it about every couple of months but every time i do the battery in the remote contol needs changing. Any ideas what could be the problem ? Once I have finished with it I
dont turn it of as it does that automatically when not used for a certain period of time.

Sorry, I can't offer a solution but at least make sure that the connections to the battery are rust free.

We are on our second PT mover, the first on our old van manual, the one on this van auto engage. The battery on this mover handset only seems to last just over a year, as opposed to several years on our first mover. A couple of months is definitely unusual.
I sometimes turn ours off, but as you say it does it automatically after a few mins. Is it totally flat, I know ours needs changing when I can't move more than a few feet from the van without it cutting out.

I must admit whenever I leave my caravan in the storage compound I always disconnect the live battery terminal, and remove one bat from rcu . I always isolate the motor mover . you could possibly have a weak earth connection somwhere.

Charlie Brown, I think the OP is refering to the battery in the hand held remote not the main caravan battery.

I fully understood his question I was just sujjesting other things that might possibly help if the person did not fully isolate everything .

Ehen I had my mover fitted the fitter advised me to remove the batteries from the remote if it was not being used for a while. Can't honestly say that I do it religously but in the case of the OP it may be worth trying.

Have had no problem with my Powertouch remote .....but my digital luggage scales have recently developed precisely the same fault......display turns off after a couple of minutes as usual; but battery flat in a few weeks.

I investigated and found that although the display had turned off, the electronics were still drawing power. Obviously something fails in the power control circuitry.(I wouldn't be surprised to find the problem related to the membrane switches?).

Only realistic solution is probably to take the battery out when not in use.

Seems the best solution, assuming it cures your problem would be to remove or disconnect the remote battery. Job Done!

It doesn't have a physical on/off switch. Even if there is a way to 'turn it off' before the automatic timeout, this would only be the same 'electronic' off function anyway.

Natasha......are you and Bighammerfan one and the same?

Anyway......ours has a slider switch on the side of the remote with an 'O' and an 'I' position. Turn it to 'O'.

Previous Pwrtouch we had for 10 years and I suspect we used 3 batteries. Present one 12 months on original battery. Always have a spare in case.

To turn ON the PT remote you press the two on/off buttons at the same time.

To turn OFF you just have to press either of the on/off buttons.

Same as mine, but it'll turns itself off after a fairly short time too

My powrtouch classic controller turns off after a few minutes of non use, which took some getting used to in the first few times of use as I was checking all round the caravan getting it off the drive. Or you can turn it off by holding the 2 'O' buttons

Sounds like you may need to remove the battery from the remote when not in use. Give Powertouch a teelephone call, you will find them most helpful.
