I have had a black & decker 18v handheld cordless for about seven years and it still works and charges brilliantly. I fabricated an extension pipe from corrugated waste pipe to get into those tricky corners.

We bought a Gtech multi after buying their Ram model and my wife says it is not as good as she expected and wished we had bought a Dyson cordless instead.

We have a B&D too, from a past life with a MH. Works well.

We invested in the dyson v6 rechargeable. Expensive but  worth every penny. Add the 'animal' if you have fur to get rid of.

We bought the Gtech multi for the caravan and find it is very good so we then bought the air ram and even though we had just cleaned our lounge carpet with the Dyson the air rams bin was full, the only downside for me is its so good I have to give the brushes a haircut everytime I use it, the wife and granddaughter have hair!. The multi is the mk1 and it gives me time to do the caravan and car without recharging all I would say is empty it and shake out the filter after using it because they do collect dust and fluff very quickly and that also applies to the air ram as well. The upgraded mk2 multi now comes with a motorised head and better suction. Since my shoulder op last year I've struggled with the big dyson so for me both the Gtech's are money well spent, I would add the multi resides in our kitchen when not used in the van and is so easy to use chasing round after the dogs.

i would just add you can get both gtech for less than the dyson handheld.

Any idea how the V6 compares with the Gtech Multi?

    "middle of the road" 54%

"Good at sucking up fine dust from carpets, fantastic for pet hair, suitable for allergy sufferers"

"Poor on hard floor, maintenance can be tricky"

Write your comments here...The Air Ram and Dyson are totally different so cannot be a true comparison, as for Dyson v6 against Gtech Multi, so not sure which one you're saying is middle of the road we have the mk1 multi along with the extension tube that combined with the upholstery tool sorts our caravan out and we have carpets and hard floor at home tiled kitchen and carpeted lounge and no issues at all apart from what I said regarding the filters it takes some beating for value for money. The Dyson v6 is around £350 and the Gtech £150 so with the saving we went straight out and got the Air Ram, we thought the Dyson did a good job on the carpets but the Air Ram made it look silly also the Mk2 has 30% more suction and a motorised head, so it's really up to you but as a Yorkshireman with short arms and deep pockets I know where I would go.

You're shooting at the messenger jimbo 2107. I was quoting Which?, as asked. Never tried a Gtech in my life. Until today, I'd have guessed it was some sort of technical Gstring sold by one of these hi tech sportswear shops.

Write your comments here...not shooting anyone but the cleaners quoted in the which Gtech Air Ram and Dyson v6  are totally different. On balance due to the higher price you would expect the Dyson to be a winner but for clearing a motorhome and occasional
house use the Gtech is more than upto the job. Sorry if my view caused offence.

The hand held dyson we have at home is brilliant.

    But it stays at home.

Dustpan & brush is perfectly adequate in the caravan. Compact, light, and never needs charging.

The Nespresso machine on the other hand..........

We purchased a Dyson V6 Absolute for the house and caravan. The motorised head would not run on our lounge carpet with 12mm pile. We also were not happy with the fit up of the tube to the head unit there was a definate pinch gap with the poor fit. We returned it for a refund and were told it was a known problem on some carpets.

So now looking for a hand held for the van.

"Dust pan & brush" Now there's a good idea. We are adding so many gadgets to our mobile accommodation that it will become the norm to have a removal van following us round.

We both suffer from dust/pollen allergies so needed a vacuum with hepa filters which are much finer than ordinary filters. That means the vacuum needs to remove virtually all the dust before it reaches the filter, otherwise the filter would be blocked in
seconds. That extra dust extraction is what you get with Dyson's technology but unfortunately it costs more.

Just bought a Dyson DC44 (the one before the V6) on ebay for under £100.

Seems really good so far, and works with the accessories we already had with the upright one.  15mins running time means we won't even bother taking the charger.  It sits in its docking station in the kitchen, so its always fully charged.

We also bought a Gtech but returned it for a full refund as not as good as a Dyson.
