Best Rechargeable Tyre Inflator
Has anyone any experience of rechargeable tyre inflators? I currently use the Lock 'n Level system for levelling the van and fitting twin wheel locks and utilise the tyre inflator which came with my VW Touareg. It works fine but sometimes it's a bit of
a pain getting the car close enough to the caravan wheels so that the leads reach the battery connection.
I was therefore thinking of getting one of the rechargeable pumps but looking through various reviews and forums, there seems to be an issue with the battery not lasting very long and therefore the whole unit having to be replaced.
Wondered if anyone had any experience and which would be recommended. I'm realistic enough to accept that no rechargeable battery will last forever, but reports of a life of only a few months seems pretty hopeless to me.

Thanks JVB - although it could be done - it's a new Bailey with the battery in a box under the floor in the middle of the van. I'd prefer to get a stand-alone inflator rather than go to the trouble of installing a 12v power point.
If no one is able to recommend anything reliable, I'll stick with what I've got and just put up with the occasional inconvenience.

..We have a new Bailey with the floor mounted battery and it also has a 12v outlet socket where the tv point is so thats where i connect our 12v tyre pump it has a lead long enough to reach both sides of van thruogh the windows

JVB - I am extremely grateful for your suggestion.....and also feeling extremely stupid!! We have a Barcelona - and yes -
have a 12v socket at the TV point just inside the door.The reason I wasn't thinking of this is because my VW pump has crocodile clips on it rather than a 12v lighter-type plug. I have a funny feeling (although don't know) that the VW pump will draw too much current and therefore require a higher rated fuse
than is fitted in the van. It also begs the question of what current the van wiring will stand - so, on balance, I'd rather not take the risk.When it's attached to the car, there are two massive terminals under the bonnet for it to clip onto which reinforces my suspicion about the current load, but I don't know for certain. Otherwise, VW would put a plug on and simply allow you to plug into the
lighter socket inside the car.I'll wait and see if anyone has any experience of rechargeable units - but thanks.
