Wind Sock!!
Hello, I know this is a touchy subject but I would like a bit of help and advice.
I want to buy a wind sock and pole for when I go to cornwall in August, I have seen other posts about this and I know alot of people don't like them for various reasons, mainly the danger of them falling and damaging other caravans in the area.
I would be taking it down when it gets too windy and at night so it does not keep others awake.
The only reason I want to get one is so that from a distance it is easier for my son to find his way back to our caravan.
I would like to do it properly, so can anyone recommend a certain brand of pole that is more reliable than cheap alternatives? Also what is the best way to fit it so that it reduces the risk of damaging any caravans.
I don't want to start a heated debate about this so would appreciate it if any comments are helpfull comments.

We have used a pole with a flag on for just the same reason as you,and I think its just scare mongering by a tiny few when it comes to damage,we just used an awning peg in ground and place which is basicaly a 3 or 4 mtr colapsible fishing pole on, then tie
to jockey wheel,it can be then just collapsed at night,it allso works as a great deterant at keeping Gulls away0 -

Have a look at "lives a beeeze" website. Loads of poles and windsocs you can get a couple of different poles from them, a normal one and a beefed up version for bigger windsocs or flags. I personally have a 5 metres pole and I really upset some of them on
here because I stick solar powered flashing lights up the pole too! Strap to jockey wheel or if on grass you can get a stake from them which you can put into the ground and slide your pole over.0 -

Never understood it either, but there's a lot of things I don't understand! :-)

Ours too is from lifes a breeze...good sturdy 5 meter too. Never had a problem with it staked in the ground, though we do lower it when windy and of a night ( easy enough to do) and we don't always have it to full height. Loads of choice of flags, windsocks
too...check out their website. They have a good selection at shows usually too.0 -

Just Windsocks, people have the right to complain if relevant
Admiral, no need to salute, just a touch of your forelock will suffice
