Wash down at Commons Wood storage

The Club, some months ago, said that washing a caravan/motorhome on site was no longer allowed so perhaps it comes under the same rules. Must admit it seems a bit daft if you keep a van in storage where else do you clean it?

Strange as the storage area at Commons Wood is separated from the pitching areas. What else are they going to use the bay for then?

Update from another source most Washdown facilities have been withdrawn, as they were against environment agency rules ,as any such facility has to have a filters fitted ?
Grimstead looking at cost effective alternatives?
I wonder how the "hand carwash" facilities work ??

I think this link might explain why the Club have stopped this facility, especially if they are not prepared to upgrade the facilities. Have the Club ever explained this to members?

Just been told that you can know longer wash your caravan down in the wash down bay does any one know if its right ?
Write your comments here...it's hardly a wash-down bay any more then,? Is it. What are you supposed to do ?? Do you get a reduction in storage fees for the loss of amenities?

Do not quite understand the problem with washing down the caravans . What about all the car washing places that seem to spring up in car parks and such like do they conform to this new ruling I doubt it . So as a proud owner and I'm sure I'm not alone in
this one where do we clean our pride and joys because there is no way I want to tow or use a dirty caravan after all we all have certain standards don't we .0 -
I can't see the problem with giving your van a wipe down with clean water and a sponge who want's to look through dirty window's while away, there is probably more pollutents in the air when it rains than wiping your van over, what next, they will banning the
use of screen wash on your car next on sites before you drive off, or be checking underneath your car to see if there is a oil leak, or perhaps check your shoes to make sure you haven't brought any mud back to the site the list could just keep going red tape

As a precautionary measure The Club has temporarily closed its wash down facilities at Alderstead Heath, Gatwick, Commons Wood and Ashridge Farm. This is to enable staff to reassess the effectiveness of the relevant drainage systems to ensure that output
to watercourses remains within acceptable thresholds. We fully recognise how important a service this is to members and are working hard with the respective water authorities to deliver an approved drainage design that will allow us to reopen these facilities
at the earliest opportunity. We are endeavouring to do this work outside of the main touring season in order to minimise the disruption to members.0
