What makes you think that changing one old lag for another will make things better?. Its the structure of the club that needs changingto meet the needs of todays vaners and meet the competition out there. Lets get rid of the peripherals and go back to basics
with a reduction in HO costs.0 -
Well I know someone on this forum who has been a senior manager in several multinational companies and been responsible for multi million pound budgets.
That person also is qualified in commercial law and recently did a degree in management with a specific focus on business strategy. Don't think that person would bankrupt the CC.
That person would be delighted to offer their experiences to the club but that person has no idea who to approach
Wonder which poster that might be?
This person sounds eminently well qualified. I have only one concern.
If he doesn't have the initiative to find out for himself who to approach, does he really have the drive to transform the club?
Only sayin.

I suspect that person is quite good at demonstrating initiative and recognising where best to allocate his time. That's why he got to the position in life he achieved . He is probably putting his efforts now into projects that are of no concern to hostile posters on CT with their own agenda .
Previous he was probably quite busy working and earning enough money to retire at 54.
Only saying. He can also spell I believe

You seem to have changed your story.

Now you seem to be saying he wouldn't want a role.
Which is it?

I retired at 51 but would not want to take on another post that would be as thankless and open to ridicule, as seems to be how most people who try to do their best, are treated by those who , as more seem to be, only interested in finding ways to rubbish anything that the majority seem quite happy with
And that applys it seems these days,to anyone who are willing to give up their time to try to help run any "club"

As I said earlier, I would like the candidates to give a few sentences outlining their particular vision of the way the club can progress.
I also agree and find posters that think it clever to be constantly critical of others whilst doing nothing themselves to be an irritant and reflective of too much of society today

I wonder how that would work. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that current rules don't allow canvassing of members. If you were standing on a particular platform how would you get your points across wothout a change in the rules? Perhaps the Club is looking for continuity rather than revolution? I think the Club rules would have to be changed first which might be difficult.

Half a page in the magazine would do it. I am thinking of a simple mission type statement
As long as every candidate had the same opportunity it would not (AFAIK) break canvassing rules
A revolution is not needed IMHO but a leader without vision is not a good head of any organisation

True, Fysh. There's the world of difference between an election statement and canvassing.

How come almost everyone who posts on here, knows what's wrong. But never actually come up with any positive suggestions on how to get right?
I believe that if the club tapped into the wisdom and experience demonstrated on this forum. The club could be transformed into a bankrupt shell with in 5 years.
Write your comments here... That's because there's always someone who thinks they know better .............it's just that the CC membership as more than average it's share of knockers ....I guess it's a little like the England manager's job , the press & public don't agree with his team choice or the team tactics but wouldn't have a clue , other than say how everythings wrong

Looking at the list of members nominated for Office and Committee in the magazine I am saddened that there are no women. As I have said in previous posts we need to move into the 21st Century and show a more balanced outlook. Yes, I know it is up to women
to put themselves forward, but it wouldn't hurt for us to encourage more diversity amoungst those who 'run' our club.0 -
Maybe women have more sense than to want to get involved and prefer to use their talents in areas that really matter.

The issue that would have got me voting against the current regime wasn't COTY. It was the promotion of three of our sites to local planning authorities for redevelopment.
Having discovered that the Executive weren't aware of this matter I looked into how the club runs and have concluded that those with the power to make changes to the issues that concern me are not positions that are elected.
As I have little interest in the club side of things I'm unlikely to vote

Our Magazine has only arrived today ,so just had a quick read ,it seems that some of the articles and info this month are quite relevent to a couple of the threads started in the last week , and have noted that some of the posts "questioning" one or two things , but if read without the "clouded outlook " that some have, actually seem quite informative

I too am beginning to look at how the club is organised as I now have more time.
I am particularly interested in how representation is made to the club regarding CL's. and their future development.
I have asked twice now on the forum but not yet received any reply from CG who has stated he has an influence. Of course the most likely reason is that he may not have noticed the posts.
I am intrigued how a member of only 5 years standing has such influence

Cholsey Grange. JVB
I am trying to understand how all this works. I can of course go through East Grinstead but I thought CG would be happy to explain on CT to save the time of head office staff .
Probably busy at weekends but he has posted earlier today

I had not realised there were no wo en involved but it is correct. I cannot remember there ever being a woman proposed and have no idea why. A womans or womens touch would do no harm and it might be a good idea for the club to try and encourage them to put
themselves forward although for me the job should go to the most appropriate whatever their sex.0 -
