I could not care less what day of the week is picked. However, we at least do book sites on booking day,
which is more than most who are advocating change.I am sure the CC have a good reason for picking Wednesday the 7th December and they will be along to enlighten us shortly.

And what proof of that do you have, or is it just supposition?

I have definitely seen a lot of posts during my time on CT advocating change but those self same posters claim they never partake. However, the rules of CT prohibit pointing, so it will just have to remain my view.

Write your comments here...I've noticed that too and like you say the CT rules prohibit pointing or naming any of the group..

    So I wont !!!!

irrespective of which 'rule/process' is being discussed, its use not a prerequsite to being able to see if something could be improvedUndecided

...be it.....arrival times...booking a HS.....frenzy day start date...closing the loos for cleaning....or any other item that can be improved.

folk usually post from their experiences of a similar process working better 'elsewhere'....

I agree BB, I was merly making what I consider a statement of fact. We used the frenzy system, when we both worked and use it now when retired. In both cases without any problems. So I suppose the point I was making, if any, was that I am commenting from
    experience with the CC system.

Perhaps those that are avocating change would book should the day be changed to the week-end, whereas they are unwilling to take time off work to do so during the week.

yes, Nellie, its a simple change to make and might allow more to join in the 'fun' while the hot sites/dates are still available.

it strikes me as odd that some members (perhaps those who are retired) seem reluctant to see the date moved to a weekend..

i wonder if they see this as a threat to their current cosy situation....ie a few more vying for the key sites/date...

You can change the day, perhaps even rotate it one day a year. At the end of the day you will never please all the people all the time. As I put earlier, we have booked on frenzy day every year  we have been members. For the first 6 years we were both working and we managed. If you want to book something enough you do. I am at least speaking from experience of using the system. Rather than all these vague comments, from those who have never used it.  Lets have a few facts of why you were unable to book on frenzy day.

We've never booked on frency day, but could think of far better things to use my annual leave for. My work leave is on a rolling 12 months, which IMHO would be a far better arrangement for all. And if a site was booked when I wanted to go there, I'd pick
another, cos lets face it a CC site is pretty much the same as any other CC site ..... just in a different place ..... I can't understand why anyone would be fanatitical over a specific site

I could not get fanatical about eating in any branch of McDonalds. Coffee and wifi are OK though.

unwilling to take time off work to do so during the week.

Unwilling - no,   unable - yes.

At the weekend the majority would have a fair chance - both those who work a 'normal' week and those who dont work at all could access the system. Yes I know it wouldnt be everyone - shift workers etc - but it would still be a much higher proportion than it is now.
However I see from the post from the club underneath my post on page one of the thread that they can't even be bothered to comment on this as a suggestion, and have chosen a Wednesday at 9am as their definition of equality of opportunity.

Think there was another post somewhere about whether the club listens to members and this clearly says it doesnt.

...Rowntree park and Baltic Wharf are sites to name a couple that we would go for on "frenzy day and work a tour round them ,if they were on our next year's itinerary,   but as we have done both on several occasions,  we will be giving way to some one else next year (for now)

Perhaps one day I will find out what is so fantastic about CC sites that  'everyone' must book at the very first opportunity. So far (as a non-member)
nothing I have read on the forum gives me any inclination to even try one. (Access to CLs is a different matter).

.Then unless you join you will not see wil you,  as the few on here are far from reprsentative of the hundreds of thousands that use clubs site of both major clubs,  and the thousand of cl/cs networks open to members only

Better to have 12 months rolling or weekend bookings,  as a day off work to book sites reduces my days holiday to spend on site in my van

You don't need to book on day one though. Or you can do it before or after work

There are two things that the other club does better than the CC and the rolling programme of bookings is one of them

Though I presume if you want to book a popular site in June you would have to do this as soon as it became available in June the year before. Possibly while you are on tour. From our point of view December is certainly better.

Trouble is I would have to book more frequently. The reason I book all in Dec under present system is that I do not know how popular a site is. When I left booking sites until a month before a typical tour of, say, 7 sites I would find one booked up.

Not quite sure I understand your last post, Alan ( although I have just "liked" it by mistake! Laughing)  Why would you have to book more often? If, when you planned your tour and went to book in December you found a site you wanted full, it must be a popular site. Why not just do all your booking earlier, at least for those sites you think might be booked up by December?

Not saying one way is any better than the other (because we rarely book far in advance anyway) but surely you'd have just as much chance of booking a particular site with a rolling release of bookings?

Sorry Moulsey. Under the present system - no problem. If it was a rolling system I would have to keepp booking in order to ensure my tour routes sites.

It is far easier for me to have the one release date and to then book all planned tours. I appreciate that some would prefer a rolling system. I would just have to become more otganised but would find it a pita. Happy
