Cris Microdot Security System
Has any member, information on the above system, and at the cost of £39.99 directly from Cris,is it a worthwhile one off investment? I understand you install microdots throughout the caravan, and in the event of theft,it's unlikely the thief, can discover them
all. Each of the microdots contains the caravan vin number, making recovery of the caravan easier.

Ive got them but havent actually stuck them in caravan yet whether they anygood i dont know : but i am a natural pessimistic worrier and always assume worse , altho why anyone would want to pinch my old caravan i dont know! But i love it and wouldnt want
some thieving git to have it: in my motorhomes i always had a tracker it was in terms of insurance i think thats the best thing to have next time i go to caravan in storage i must stick my microdots in cupboards0 -
Saw a program on caravan channel a while ago on this, all new caravans have this as standard now but the retro fit package was £25 but for example allows the police to scan the cris number while being towed on road to determine if it is stolen so it is a
good move.0 -
My van is a Unicorn Cadiz sries 111,and while Tracker is a standard fitment,it appears the microdot system is not. It came to light during a telephone enquiry to CrIS,as to why there was a delay in the issue of the certificate. The call handler gave me the
price of the kit,and I now wonder if it's worthwhile,given the Tracker installation.0 -
Most stolen caravans go to traveller sites.
If they had 'Stolen Caravan/Motorhome' painted on the roof and sides the police probably wouldn't intervene.....sad but true!
Some must be recovered but I've never seen an example reported on the various forums!!!!

We use a rubber stamp and put the VIN on every piece of wood (where it doesn't show), although it's not obvious that it's there it would make it clear to the police if they recovered it!!
If all manufacturers did this it could reduce theft in an instant?
