The £2 increase isn't that bad, we are new to caravaning last year was our 1st year away, we have just booked somewhere for the end of May, last year we paid £56 this year it's gone up to £83 that's a 40%'ish increase.
it does seem a lot of sites are far more expensive than last year, is it common to have such big increases?

Yes but it's the same period as last year,

I would sell my house and family to pay the membership fee

That's a whopping big increase and I would say quite uncommon. It would help to know details of the site and dates involved in order to explain it though.

The CC say that every member receives a printed advertising catalogue every month, ( they call it a Magazine ) which is worth £40.00 a year.
So if a customer opts to not receive said publication their annual membership fee will reduce by that £40.00 and the customer should only pay £ 8.00.
That seems fair and equitable dont you think.

Sorry but some of us like the magazine and it is part of the deal when you become a member but the advertising pays for it and everyone gets one because that gives them the circulation figures up to maximise advertising revenue. If they stopped sending you
the magazine the advertising revenue would drop so rather than reducing yohr subs they would actually go up.Given the regular magazines are £4 a month the clubs figure looks a little low.

Its the old system of bleed em dry, with all the trouble on some foreign holidays more will holiday in the uk so all holiday providers just shove their prices up.

We're talking £2 per year here, Ellio. Bleed em dry? Hardly.

And apparently you can recoup that by just joining a rally on a club site for a night!

No, we are talking 5% here.......another 5%.
But if you're happy to pay ever increasing head office overhead costs i.e. a load of staff who add nothing to the caravanning experience......then you will no doubt be content with massively inflation-busting increases, year on year.

Do I take it you're cancelling your membership then Ian?
Do I take it that you simply agree with everything that the CC chose to do then Moulesy?
No, as you will know if you've read my comments on the booking system, the cancellation period, the arrival/departure rules or the fact that we're using C&CC sites, Cls and CSs as well as club sites Ian.
So, having answered your question, how about answering mine - staying with the club or not?

It's nice to see the Ian of old returned. . . .Royal Family anyone, that should see Him off again

But you're happy with year on year inflation busting increases? For no perceivable benefit?

As prince Philip (is righty) the patron of our club is he an automatic member?
On topic the membership fee corrected for inflation from 1999 should be £43.73 so it's not too far out. Cracking good value I think, but of course no one is forced to pay.

Quite so, Corners. Those who find it too expensive aren't forced to join or renew membership.

I feel a bit like Jeremy Corbyn at PMQs here!
Ian, for me being able to use club sites and, in particular CLs is a very perceivable benefit and yes, I'm happy to pay the subscription fee involved.
Now, about your membership - it's not like you to be so shy and retiring and it's a simple question - yes or no, are you renewing your membership? (Another "Corbyn" moment there !! )

I'm going to guess that Ian is renewing his membership for next year after all!
And who could possibly blame him, given the good value it represents!
+ 1 there
