So Moulesy......are you saying that you are happy with the inflation busting increases then? (Starting to feel like Paxman trying to get an answer out of Michael Howard here!)
If so, you really are becoming a fully fledged member of the "CC (who can do no wrong) fan club" aren't you?
0 -
Ian, you're sounding more and more like a politician ....answering a question with a question.
Coming or going.....Yes or No?

Ian is like most who like their "macho" attitude but are pussy cats really and toe the "party " line
yes, +1
they usually are the ones who hides their true feelings by answering a difficult question with another question. It's been well documented
“It can be argued that the display of machismo can be displaced anger over an inability to handle aspects related to one’s social and cultural responsibilities and a difficulty in taking responsibility for the assumed role assignment that a male is expected to integrate into one’s personal, social, familial and work behavior.” -Cervantes (2006, p.216)
Oh and yes membership fee good all round value with many benefits

Ian, have you not read my post above? Have you not noticed my criticism of several aspects of the CC? It's no good you trying the usual tactic of someone who disagrees with you being in the "CC can do no wrong camp". It just won't wash. But, yes I pay the
"inflation busting" (er ... £2) subscription fee increase so that I can carry on using club sites and, especially CLs. I'm actually very relaxed about the £2 increase to be honest, let's face it, less than the cost of a pint.If I was so exercised about it that I felt the need to constantly complain I wouldn't have signed up for another year. But I'm not and I have. How about you?

I'm beginning to feel like I'm at a Rovers' match. How does that song go? "Oh, it's all gone quiet over there......!"

Ah, well 9pm arrived.

Not really anything to do with avoiding the question, Moulesy......more a case of avoiding the braying bunch who just try to shout down anyone who dares to criticise their favourite organisation. Bit surprised at you joining with them, to be honest.
Anyway, I probably will rejoin this year but, like many it seems, we will need to think about it a lot more. Unlike earlier years when we would renew without thinking about it, we now have to consider just how many of their sites we will use (it get's less and less each year, due to price) and whether we will book a ferry / tunnel crossing with them. Insurance doesn't come into it, because they are way too expensive.
As you say, you have also highlighted many other aspects of the Club that a lot of people aren't happy with.
Many of the other things the Club offers you can usually find easiliy enough elsewhere. People access this web site without being members. You have to start to question the benefits of membership.

Well thank you for kind who answering the question Ian. Maybe we'll meet up on a club site or CL somewhere next year.
I'm a little surprised at your claim that I'm "joining the braying bunch who try to shout down anyone who dares to criticise their favourite organisation" though, since I've been clear in my own criticisms of some aspects of the CC. And any perceived braying
could have been avoided by a straight one word answer to a straight one line question a few pages back!0 -
I do like Ian's expression. "The Braying Bunch" I will have to remember that for the future. A good alternative to the " Usual Suspects " or the "Little Clique"
K
As far as the membership fee is concerned, I would be happy to pay the eight pounds per annum after they have discounted the Forty pounds for me opting out of receiving the printed magazine

Well one thing I can't access elsewhere is the ease of booking a site, with no penalties for cancelation. We can sit plan and book our year in December / January, knowing in the unfortunate event of an unexpected occurrence, we can change things. Never plan
to do this, but the option is there, and well worth the £48 on its own.0 -

I had you down K as someone who could argue rationally rather than resort to insulting your fellow posters when you can't make your point?

Ians "braying bunch " covers an awfull lot on here when it suits, some just need to look at their methods of posting ,then look in the mirror
But as its only a tiny minority of the hundreds of thousands of club members then is it relevent

Sadly, there have always been a few on CT who seek to use derogatory names for those who disagree with their own view. It's not as common now as it once was, but it's definitely still there. The justification is that it's OK to use such insults to a group, as long as it's not aimed at individuals.
More mature forum users prefer to put over their point of view rationally, rather than stooping to such insults though!

For me the membership assures me of a quality product, that is a quality site no matter where on the network. I can be confident that even when I go to a site that I have never been to that site will be good, especially the toilet block. I have never been
dissappointed with a club site. I have been dissapointed with non club sites. Is that worth the £4 a month to join, well it is for me but everyone must make their own mind up, but judging by the popularity of the sites many also think so0 -
We also use the Club insurances - in particular Mayday, Caravan Insurance and Continental insurance. I'm less pleased with the Pet Insurance and may change after this year. We flit between different insurers for our cars to try and get the best deal.

Write your comments here...Corners, unlike the "usual suspects" , I would never single out a particular poster for any kind of insults. --- I never have had to ----It's not my style, I leave that sort of thing to the honourable members of the "Little
Clique" who seem to be adept at the personal insults style of discussion.K

very rationally argued, a masterclass even. I liked it to help you on your way to double purple

so why is that do you think? I have no dealing with the dark of of the force, sorry CCC, are they doing that as their sites are not popluar? or they have a different client group?
0 -
I don't think their sites are not popular, their availability of hardstandings over Easter is much less than the CC but that may be because they have less of these? Their profitability looks better than that of the CCs so my guess is with their membership
growing, they do not feel they need to increase the subs. On the latter point for long serving members over 65, it is nice to see some loyalty rewarded.peedee

We are 'fortunate' to be old enough and to have belonged to C&CC for long enough to qualify for both Age Related Discount, when applicable, on site fees and for Veteran Membership. The latter reduces the annual membership fee by 50%. Actually, it's the only
reason we still renew. CC sites and booking arrangements are superior in our view and C&CC sites are usually no cheaper even with the discount applied.0 -
Been a member for nigh on 32 years, might have had the odd break. Access to CL network, like the small no facility sites, save our membership fees with great days out vouchers. Some aspects over recent months, such as fiasco with plans for Broadway etc....
Losing sites such as Much Wenlock, Bromyard Downs have given pause for thought, but as I say, it cost us nothing compared with what we save. We look at insurance offers, but shop around.0 -

Have I missed something, tda....are you sure that Bromyard Downs is definitely going to be closed, if so when? If it's to be at the end of this year we'll have to call in there this summer.
