My main wishes when going away are dog friendly and as few children as possible ...... none would be even better !

Unfortunately we've had some heated discussions in the past on children and dogs on sites. Although it's honest to say what you prefer on a site I think both clubs are family friendly and also welcome pet owners.

I cannot comment on CCC as I'm only a member here. I'm sure that emotive subject such as dogs, children, spouses can - and do - get heated at times
I was only being honest from my personal perspective and meant no offense towards anyone else

Getting back to the original post, I don't think there is really a great deal of difference between the clubs. Presumably the C&CC have more members because they also attract tent users as well as caravanners. Personally, I dislike the design and layout of the other Club's sites. You can be stuck on a pitch with other members N S E and W of you with little privacy and cars driving past your awning. I don't like the way they allocate pitches either rather than allowing you to choose. However, their Overseas service is excellent and we remain members of both clubs for that reason. If you can afford it - join both.....

We do not have the privacy problem with C&CC sites but do find them a bit less scenic somehow. Frankly we use whichever we find most conveniant or cheaper.
What annoys me about the C&CC though is the booking system as you cannot compare the price by just looking at the site details. You actualy have to get one step short of booking to get the fees which is unnecessarily time consuming.

Our bookings through this winter and into Spring and Summer are all with the Caravan Club. Our winter bookings alternate between Gatwick and Brighton and the Spring and summer bookings between Worthing and Littlehampton. Most of our bookings are 21 nights. We prefer long term stays so that we don't have to put up and take down the awning every few days. It's also a lot less work of packing and unpacking, hitching up and unhitching etc. Our work commitments mean having to stay in or near the Worthing area, so we've booked our sites accordingly.
One or two night bookings usually mean that you don't have much time to do anything else other than towing between sites and carrying out all the necessary tasks of setting up your outfit followed by packing it once again ready for travel.
We still retain membership of both clubs as we may need to use the other club for tent camping whilst our caravan is being serviced.

Write your comments here... In recent years I have only ever used NCC Approved Mobile Workshops which have also carried out warranty work when needed. I believe all the manufacturers accept servicing and repair by other than the selling dealer providing
they are an approved workshop whether mobile or static. I know they're not in Malcolm M's area but have a look at the web site for Camelco which state "All UK manufacturers now specify that caravans must be serviced by NCC Approved Workshops for the warranty
to be maintained". I always consider mobile workshops to be better because their reputation is based solely on servicing or warranty work and not on caravan or accessory sales and therefore try 100% to retain business by good customer service.0 -

Write your comments here...That's right, BB. If it's just one or two nights, we don't bother with the awning but it does mean managing in a more cramped space. It's not just the job of putting up the awning, you also have to lay the awning carpet and assemble all the awning furniture including our larder with shelves, plus two ring electric hob that sits on top of it, the folding coffee table, the picnic table with built in seats, the two relaxers, folding chairs, inner tents etc. It's like setting up an entire home. You need to spend a minimum of three nights in one place to make all that worthwhile.

Write your comments here...If you use a mobile who is registered with the relavent organisations there there should not be a problem,your dealer might not like it because they are losing buisiness but the warranty should not be affected, where we store our
van,there a quite a few including new vans who use mobile service engineers0 -
