MASSIVE THANK YOU TO WEST DORSET CENTRE

We want to give a huge thank you to the members of the West Dorset Centre who helped me and my family on a recent rally.  We were met at the gate to the field on Sunday afternoon by Darlene with a cup of tea and biscuits.  Lovely start to our break in Weymouth, we thought.  On Monday my family and I decided to spend a day at the beach and then back to the field for a barbecue.  After our meal someone decided to have a game of rounders – kids against the adults.  How dangerous can that be you ask?  After about 20 minutes of running around and hysterical laughter my husband John hit the floor like a sack of spuds clutching his right leg and could not get up.  After about half an hour of trying to stand we had to call an ambulance.  This was at 7.30 pm.  He was still on the floor unable to move until the ambulance turned up at about 10pm and was taken to hospital.

In the meantime some lovely gents came over from the Centre and set up a patio heater beside my husband for warmth, they produced an emergency blanket to put under him and also rigged up some lighting as it was starting to get dark which made a difficult situation easier.  We left the hospital the following morning having found out that John had pulled/ torn his hamstring.  I have never seen anyone in such pain.  Again these lovely gents set about helping us out in how to get our caravan hitched up to a relatives camper van for our return home as we had to leave the rally.  We were sad to leave but as John was now on crutches, he couldn’t get into the caravan.

After a long journey home and a good night sleep (well at least for some) we were very moved when we received a get well card in the post from the people we had just left on the rally.

These lovely people really did go the extra mile for us in our time of need and we are extremely grateful – a big thank you West Dorset Centre from the White Family.

Well done to West Dorset Centre. I am not surprised though as this is one of the benefits of rallying in that everyone is always there to help, especially in a crisis/emergency. I hope John's leg is recovering.
