Decisions on suitable tow vehicle.
Hi all,
In the new year (17) I will have to choose a sturdy vehicle to tow possibly 3000+klgs of trailer and because the neccessary engine size will be thirsty I wonder if anyone has had a Nissan which was converted to dual fuel & was it a suitable conversion, (Now
because I am going to be new to this experience as I am to the CC I expect that perhaps fellow members may roll their eyes and say I should get out more)

Hi Settermum,
Thanks for your comment, but I'm uncertain what other information would effect the answer. I know that the 2.5L Diesel Nissan can comfortably pull 3000kls, but I wonder if having fuel gas as an alternative reduces performance, and in whixh case the usual
economy gained makes it not worthwhile. I also .notice plenty of vehicles filling up with Gas locally so it is I think money saving, and I'd always trust a users opinion against a garage which sells the £1500 (?) conversion.0 -
As I understand it there is a drop in power of around 5% when a new car is converted to run on LPG. On older cars this can go up to 10%. But as gas is around half the cost of petrol there is a saving to be had if you do enough miles. But I don't think I
would want to tow 3000kgs with a petrol vehicle of 2T ish with only 2.5L. I think it would be a little under powered.0 -
