Black fragments in flush tank
There are black fragments appearing in the toilet bowl when it is flushed.
I do use the correct flushing fluid but the interior of the tank appears to have a black coating on it.
What is it and what do I use to clean it out ?

Many of us have found that Aqua Kem pink flush causes the black bits. Try using a different brand. I've given up with it altogether and add a few drops of scented Zoflora to my flush tank.

Skyrod67, welcome to the weird & wonderful world of motorcaravanning !! Many of us have vans which are not fitted with separate "Flush water tanks" so we use any of the "pink" sprays from Elsan, Dometic or suchlike
companies. Others Like Jill-w-a-J, use an air freshener or spray suitable for their own delicate noses !! After a while not using the Pink Fluid you should find the Black Bit problem disappears0 -
We gave ours a couple of good rinses with clear water, flushing right through and the black bits finally stopped appearing.

To clean the flush tank, I believe Thetford suggest using a solution of Milton, but we use Puriclean, which is good for the drinking water system too, as it removes bio-film.
We generally just use plain water in the tank as we previously did not have a separate flush tank so are not used to using "pink", but even then find the occasional "black bit", mainly at the start of a trip.
I think it may be due to the interior or the tank being constantly wet and encouraging the growth of the bio-film.
Using fabric softener in the flush tank, instead of "pink", has also been suggested, haven't tried that myself.

Me neither - quite happy with the Zoflora and it comes in a very small bottle which doesn't take any room in the cupboard..
