how do you know if it is or isnt working while driving?
but seriously, while the engine is running the fridge should not work at all on gas / mains. it will run on the battery, but should NOT do so when the engine is not running.

If the fridge is running on gas when the engine is off does it still run on gas when you start the engine. If it stays on gas then the fridge has failed to detect the engine start. Time to start looking for a fuse panel. You can also take the covers off
on the outside and see if there is a fuse. There does not seem to be any wiring diagrams for Hobby on the Internet so unless you have a manual with one in you maybe in trouble, Does your vehicle have an Electro Block of some description ( A Central Electrical
Panel ) If so get a name and do a search for it. You could ring Hobby but chances are they wil say take it to a Dealer. What sort of fridge is it. Track down an installation book and find out what colour the wire is that supplies the 12v then find it.0 -
Thanks for all that folks- to clarify fridge fine except when driving it won't work off engine.......works fine mains and gas when not driving.........guessing it's a fuse /relay.....found some under drivers seat- behind passenger seat- and under bonnet-
non of these appear to house the one we want!!!0 -
Page 80 in the generic Hobby manual on here:
http://www.hobby-caravan.de/fileadmin/user_upload/kataloge_und_service/bedienungsanleitungen/RM_Fiat_07_engl_Komple
this shows a power supply for fridge at the battery and below that there are various chassis model wiring diagrams.
The fridge is spoken about in section 9-7 but only tells you what you already know, it has three modes, gas or electric for stationary use, 12v for travelling.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
Dave.

I think I would start with the 12V at the fridge itself. Hopefully you could access it where it comes in and measure it with a meter or even a small 12V bulb. If 12V is present with the engine running, check the 12V switch on the fridge. If no 12V, check operation of the split charge/fridge relay.
(for some reason, my van has a 12V switch for the fridge on the dash. It seems to have 2 switches for everything)
