Hi All.

Having been all packed and ready to go on a short break with our 2014 Buccaneer Caravel i noticed some rust on the brake drums and thought i'd freshen them up.

On removing the wheels i was confronted with the sight of two rather large holes in the rear face of the wheelarch liner caused by the wheels rubbing on it. The inside of the caravan was clearly visible along with an amount of road debris and grit etc with
the edge of the plywood floor being stained by water ingress. Also the hot water pipe had been rubbed but not completely through, luckily.

I scoured the internet looking for any further information and found that greentrees-adventure store had recalled all their twin axle buccaneers and crusaders for this very problem.

I contacted my local dealer only to be told that i wouldn't be covered under the ten year water ingress warranty as i hadn't completed a warranty transfer.

I find this absolutely disgraceful on a caravan of this quality and price.

The lady at the warranty desk said she had never heard of this problem before or dealt with one. On leaving the office i noticed a used Clipper on their forecourt and lo and behold this too had a hole in the wheelarch liner. So now she'd had two reports
in one day.

I just wonder how many more of these are out there that haven't been checked.

I have contacted Elddis but am yet to have a reply.

Does anybody know where i stand legally with this. I find it hard to believe that a claim cannot be made due to not transferring the warranty. Especially when this is a serious manufacturing fault that could potentially render a caravan a write off.

Have you seen this thread, VM? Different make but food for thought.

Dont forget that your contract is with the dealer who sold you the van rather than Elddis and your rights as a consumer are in place irrespective of any dealer/manufacturer warranty.

Your van might have been pricey but in the caravan world that does not imply quality as you are, sadly, finding out. Good luck.

agreed, not fit for purpose, chase the dealer....hard....its their responsibility (as TW says) irrespective of 'paperwork' to put this right....

Write your comments here...Would this still apply to the original supplying dealer and not the used dealer i purchased from.
