Reading this article I would like to know why a 10m cable does not comply with wiring regulations as stated in Top Tips.

I have a half length cable  which is far more convenient to handle, and used on most sites.

There is no technical reason why a 10m hook-up cable may not be used and I'm unaware of any any clause in the 'Wiring Regulations' that state only 25m cables are acceptable. Unfortunately there are a few ambiguous statements in the recent artical in the
    CC April magazine.

I also see no reason a 10m cable is not acceptable. Far better to have a 10m cable unwound fully when connected than a 25m cable still partly curled up acting as a 'heating element'

The problem with carrying a 10m cable is that you eventually end up wishing you had a 25m one unless you play safe and carry both.

Yes I carry two cables that is the drawback. I have "sinned" having been forced join the two together, once on a Club Site, and on several sites abroad.
