I have always used a protec towing cover however I have taken delivery of a new Coachman Laser with no slot in the offside awning rail, I noticed this when trying to fit my awning rail preotctors , I haven't spoke with protec yet to advise of this, when I spoke with the dealer they advised this is how new coachmans are being bult now, has anybody had this problem with a new coachman and protec towing cover.

Some  early Bailey Alutec were the same and Protec had covers that had "suckers" of some sort to overcome the problem ,they might still have them?

Just to confirm what Admiral said. Whilst at the NEC I did raise this with the Coachman representatives. They blamed a communication problem with their supplier. They said to me that they hoped it would be recitified by this summer which  of course it is
no use to you. I spoke to a couple of suppliers of the covers and the only suggestion was that I cut a notch in the offside awning rail. On a £20,000+ caravan I think not. I'm going to raise this with the dealer and ask them what if anything they can do as
I don't want to impact on the warranty. I've a Coachman on order for delivery in June and they cannot tell me if it will have the updated awning rail fitted. No a good start from what I was told was one of the better caravan builders.

All leisure vehicles seem to be from who ever makes them, here or "over there"are subject to ,at times, problems caused by "oversites" by someone or something between the drawing board  and the end product Undecided

Many dealers have a tool for opening up a space in the awning channel.  Or you can do the job yourself with a cloth and a pair of water pump pliers.

yes i saw a tool on one of the many selling sites only a few quid. We had the awning rail replaced on our van some years ago and that had no gap the dealer opened it up with pliers then put in the awning tool and made a neat job of it  malc

Yes seems to be a problem with the Coachman, I knew about an awning rail tool, however on the 2016 Coachman the awning rails are UPVC and I think they would just split the rail and the warranty will be invalidated.
