Grey Waste Re-routing

Hi All, I am a relative caravan newcomer of about 5 years and never tried any caravan DIY, I am thinking of trying to re-route my caravan grey waste pipes as they sometimes run slowly and do not seem to run in a logical way with many 90 degree bends and
from the rear bathroom and nearside kitchen to the offside middle of the van. I believe that the offside is to avoid the awning, My van is Bailey Pegasus 2 Milan, has anyone moved theres or got any advice, PS I always try where possible to site my van level.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been asked before.  PJMEG

I did this on my Lunar Delta. I plumbed the washhand basin into the shower outlet pipe using a  Y junction ( we don't use both at the same time). It was simple to do and I got the desired result. Oh I might add that I am rubbish at DIY.

If there isn't already make sure that there is a fall in the pipe work running towards the outlet.  This doesn't have to be anything more complicated than blocks of wood of different thicknesses.  Also I don't know what they use under Pegasus but plumb in
hard pipe the corrugated plastic stuff is a terrible dirt trap.  Finally join up all the drain lines to a single outlet. So you don't have to install that Chrismas tree arrangement that joins all the outlets to a single point so you can get into your waste
master.   If you have traps on all your drain points inside your van then you will have the equivalent of German waste water plumbing.

If you plumb the wash basin into the shower outlet there is a risk that emptying a large amount of water down the basin could cause a back up into the shower if the water cannot get away quickly enough. I had this problem with my campervan. If I emptied
the tip up wash bowl quickly then a small amount of waste water could find its way into the shower tray. I cured it by fitting a one way valve into the outlet pipe of the shower.

So people have said, but it's never done so yet ..... and what if it did? There'd be a small amount of water in the shower tray that would drain away Cool

Write your comments here...We have never had this problem in 5 years and our wash hand basin will inevitably be bigger than a tip_up basin.Perhaps we are lucky.

The problem was that the bathroom in the campervan was small and the shower tray was the whole floor. Therefore to use any of the facilities you had to step into the shower tray. This was unpleasant if the tray was wet, especially wet with dirty soapy water.
I agree though, not too much of a problem if the shower tray is separate.

I suppose one could use duckboard but I think my solution was better (very cheap and easy to do and effective). Anyway I don't have the campervan now and my caravan has a separate dedicated shower cubicle so no more problem.

If you have traps, then merging the plumbing into one line will generate a vacuum when, say, the kitchen washing up bowl is emptied, which may pull the water out of a trap, leading to odours

Thanks to all for your comments, I will try to change it and see, I will use the Bailey straight pipe to where I feel the outlets s

    it the best.

Don't run the pipes to the back of your van, near the wheel is best.

Coachman always took their waste pipes to the back of the van, guess what, reviewers and end users moaned. Never the right answer. At least now they are bigger bore pipes.

If the waste is at the back & you're pitched on a slope, the rear can be virtually on the floor and unless you can drain your water upwards ..... Wink
