Suggest that 3 users download the Three In Touch app as it allows calls over the internet.

Only tried it a couple of times abroad but it worked.

We bought the iBoost system at the NEC and hope that it will help us pick up a FON network which will mean being able to access t'internet and possibly make calls as well over wifi. Our back up plan is to increase the red wine intake and sigh a lot.

Why would you need to tether your phone to get on the Internet.when most campsites have free or cheap wifi in Europe?  When I am not on site and have to use my o2 data it just costs £1. 99 for the 24 hours in which I use it and thats it.  Only use it for
a day or two at £1. 99 not expensive.  I use the Internet on the sites as I need to updte my Website and work on my Forum plus Moderate on here everyday and it doesn't cost much at all..

We have found very few sites in France that offer free wifi......in fact, it is usually quite expensive.

Hence, having the mifi is really good.

Here are a few places in Brittany where campsites have free wi fi...St Pol de Leon, Matignon, Blain, Nantes, Sarzeau, Ste Anne d'Auray, Pors Peron .. and we find them as frequent in other areas of France.

Dianne, we might spend a few nights in a row on an aire or aires, and browsing the internet will require 3g/4g.

if you dont want to browse on a phone (i dont, too small) then tethering is needed.

i also dont want to pay for my data twice, even at £1.99 a day, this would soon mount up, so £15, 5gb in the uk plus 2gb abroad each month, unlimited no strings calls/texts....

    works for us....Happy

Well that's great....................for you. What about the others and the times that, even when you have paid, the service is not  good? With three you cannot tether in Europe so an alternative is required if you wish to access the internet other than
    on your phone.

We want to access the internet even if that means using paid wifi but we have had problems with poor signal hence the iBoost which, fingers crossed, will also allow access to FON as BT customers as well as giving better acces to site wifi.
