Hi

We have some friends coming on holiday with us to the south of france. We have a house in France and we have our own caravan but they want to hire a caravan in France. Hs anybody done this before?

Even assuming they arrive with a car with correct towbar and electrics finding hire of a touring caravan is far from easy - a real rarity in fact. Could you persuade them to rent a camper van or motorhome instead if they want to tour? That's much more straightforward. And static caravans on campsites are everywhere of course.

You wouldn't be able to do it with a British registered car - a caravan has to be separately registered in France, and towed by a car with French registration plates.  We have a caravan which we keep in France (and a house there too), but if we want to use
the caravan we have to tow it with our British registered car.

Perhaps they could hire a motorhome - that would be much easier, and there are lots of places advertising.  Here is just one such place, near(ish) to us - just googl 'Location Camping Car (then town/city name)' -
