We are going to the Ardeche for the first time next year and travelling down from Caen. Can anyone recommend a good half way site for a stop over and best route

The halfway point could well be the city site at Bourges, Camping Robinson,  but the route depends on whether you want toll motorway or a more economical  route.  ViaMichelin will guide you.

Another vote for Camping Robinson. We stopped there on our way back to Ouistreham from the Auvergne last year. Two hundred and sixty seven miles using the peage.

I remember it as a neat and tidy site, not picturesque or spectacular, but well worth two nights there to spend a full day in the town.
