Best route from Tours to Brugge
I am planning a journey returning from holiday from Camping Eurosol just above Bayonne France to stay overnight at Tours and then on to Brugge. The route finder is showing the best route is on the A10/A1 through Paris. Having done France several times
i have always avoided Paris as we always travel at peak time in August but on this occasion the alternative route is the A28 through Rouen and then the A16 which is what we have used when going direct to the tunnel. Using this route adds another 70 miles
to the journey but i wanted advice as to whether it is worth it to avoid going through Paris. Any advice would be really welcome

We would go around via Rouen having never had a problem on that route. Going via Paris, the last time we did it, traffic everywhere was gridlocked, and we were four hours on one stretch of the autoroute.
My son came back from the Ardeche in early July and it took three hours to get from just south of Paris to Charles de Gaulle airport.
The date of travel will have an impact though, and if you're travelling mid-week, when most Parisians are still down in the south on their holidays, then you may be OK. However, if you're travelling at a weekend I would avoid Paris like the plague.

If you don't mind the tolls and alternative might be Tours to Troyes via Orleans and then up the A26. It cuts off Paris completely. Not done the mileage so it could be more. Just happen to have the French map open on my desk!!!

David. Going via Rouen adds 90 miles to the journey and via Orleans 105. The disadvantage of both is that it extends the journey for me into an additional day. I will look at the Orleans option as an advantage may be to stay in the area for a day which
is something we havent tried before. Many thanks anyway0
