Advice on Dordogne Area

Hi,

We are looking at a stay in the Dordogne next year for maybe a week. Can anyone recommend some sites that are within cycling ( 10 Miles ) distances of various villages or places of interest.

We are looking to stay at Coulon also either before the Dordogne stay or en route back to UK.

We travelled to France this year for the first time in our MH and loved it.

    I Googled Camping Dordogne.

    However as MHers we use a mix of Aires and ACSI sites but will use circus sites if they are closest to where we want to be!

    PS. I don't believe the CC lists all sites in any area/region!

    Neil, when are you planning on going?  There are many more sites than those suggested in the Caravan Club overseas brochure - everything from Camping a la Ferme or Aire Naturelle to the biggest all-singing five star sites.  What sort of site are you looking
    for, and will you have children with you?

    All this will affect the suggestions of sites.  I would suggest somewhere near Sarlat, Domme area which is central to most of the popular places to visit in the Dordogne.  We liked Camping Le Perpetuum, which is an ACSI Card site (13 euros this year) set
    alongside the Dordogne river, with restaurants and bars within walking distance.  It has a nice pool and friendly owners.

    Neil, if you google Voies Vertes Dordogne it will give you a map of the off road cycle track from Sarlat to Cazoules. Is that  perhaps helpful to you?

    Thanks for all the advice. No I dont need to use Caravan Club sites and I have an ACSI Card. It is just my wife and I ( The dogs, children and grandchildren are all staying behind ).

    I will have a look at the off road cycle track and as for sites we would like to have clean sanitation,showers etc and EHU. We tend to BBQ one night and eat out another so villages withing cycling or walking distances would be nice. Thanks once again

    Just been looking at the site you mentioned near Domme and it looks ideal. Some good and fairly easy cycle tracks from there and plenty of villages within walking and cycling distance. Thanks, Neil

    I stayed at Camping Le Perpetuum two years ago, brilliant site and location for all aspects of a good holiday. The area has everything that Val says by foot, by canoe or by car, you won't be disappointed.

    Village of 'Domme' is a short cycle ride away, but the last mile is all very uphill Worried but the views and village itself is great.

    We've stayed at camping Acacias near Sarlat this year and last year for a couple of days.Good ACSI rate. Nice quiet location lovley views, good facilities well run site by friendly family.. Bit af a walk into Sarlat but easy cyle ride. Local bus stops close
    to site.
