The lady owner at Camping Trologot at St Pol de Leon is very obliging if you let her know your arrival time in advance - -and was accepting both Camping Cheques and ACSI cards this year except in peak season. There are good reviews on UKCampsite.co.uk as
well as the ones on the Club website.

Been using Trologot for many years, last time in June this year, and have arrived in the evening but worth e-mailing to confirm.

Have stayed at Ar Kleguer once but prefer Trologot and they take Camping Cheques. The town of St Pol De Leon is very nice and we plan to stay two nights next June on our way home.

Thanks for the replies. It's nice to have piece of mind knowing there's somewhere to stay when arriving late.

ET. I've read the site reports now and as we haven't been to that part of Brittany and we re there for a month then we will use it for probably the first week.

The club have the site in their brochure stating 7 nights for 6 so a week in September including ferry works out at just under £267. Excellent value.

I stayed on Ar Kleguer last year and was very impressed with the area, I would not hesitate to return, lovely bit of France.

Can't remember the opening hours but I think it had a late arrivals area / car park, but there was more space around the Trologot entrance from memory.

An alternative, for anyone reading this who prefers an informal site, is Camping Le Bois de la Palud in the village of Plougoulm. The C&C Club has that one listed in their Carefree booking programme and the Alan Rogers team has done a short report about it. There is no resident warden and no barrier, so you literally can come and go at any time at all and just pay the warden when she makes routine visits - for instance we have stayed there till 10pm. for the overnight ferry home from Roscoff.

It is a much simpler site, and only open in the summer, but there is always masses of space without booking in the big meadow straight ahead from the entrance, which has electric points - but take levelling blocks as that field is sloping.

Camping Trologot has a no twin axles sign outside but was quite happy to accept us, plenty of large pitches with easy access.

But views much better from some of the pitches on Ar Kleguer, also take twin axles.

Agreed, the views from some (more expensive) pitches are fabulous, they can be a little tricky to get onto though for larger units.

    Hello Harry

Most sites situated close to ports are used to guests arriving late and leaving early.

As mentioned in Eurotravellers post De Trologot are obliging regarding late arrivals.  I have just had a look at their contract and the latest arrival time is 22.30 during high and low season.  Also if you book through the Caravan Club we can call the site
for you to let them know what time your ferry is arriving.

If you look on our website this site gets excellent reviews as it’s a 400 metre walk to the beach and just 15 minutes’ drive to and from the port.

I hope that you find this information useful, we are always happy to help with the finer details of your trip.

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Thanks for the reply but just to let you know I have beat you to it. Just on Tuesday I booked the ferry and De Trologot for one week. I used the on line booking for both and found it very simple, confirmation from the club was immediate.

Thanks for your time, it is appreciated

If you need a site this side of the water, Harry, this one is much easier to access than Plymouth Sound CC site and is very convenient for the A38.

    TW

Thanks for that. We will stay overnight near Burnham on Sea near to friends and then have a slow drive down to the docks from there for the afternoon crossing

The traffic in Plymouth can be very heavy at times, Harry, so I'd allow plenty of time. Have a good trip.

Love this site, stopped here a lot over the years as we have friends who live just outside of Plougoum and also came over to play football.

Only about 30 pitches in the main site with a basic but well looked after sanitry block. Great views from some of the lower pitches. Wish it was open later than mid sept ( usually about 12-15 when it closes). Best part if going early september is you could
be the only ones on site.
