ACSI

We will be travelling to France for the first time next year with our caravan, however as it is during August should we invest in the ACSI guide, would it just give us many more sites to book on, or would we also expect to get discounts?

You won't get the discounts in August.

I think (not certain) that you can download the main ACSI App (not the discount card sites App) so it might be a useful reference.

ACSI is an off peak card for discounted prices, I'm afraid it won't be much use to you in August but the book itself is a mine of information regarding the sites you can still use.

Hi Quilters, For a first visit I would.suggest you also buy the Club's Touring France guide - not just for the 3000 sites listed (though some of them out of date)  - but really for the wealth of information and advice it contains to smooth your path. I hope
    it goes well.

You don't say when in August that you'll be travelling. Some French sites start their discounts in the later part of the month as their compatriots head home in droves and many sites are a bit quieter then. See if you get hold of this years book from someone
and check their dates for this year. This should give you an idea for next year.

Have just seen where you live and there are numerous posters on here who live in Yorkshire. They might have finished with their books now. However being Yorkshire folk they may ask for a charitable donation. I presume you'll know how to haggle.WinkHappy

If you want just this year's book as a 'Guide' then you can have mine with pleasure. (Email me on valdaathome@gmail.com). If you have this year's guide it will show you the sort of sites on offer, and the dates they accepted the card this year.  That may help you decide whether you'll find sites accepting the card in the areas you intend to visit during your planned trip in 2017.

I would second Eurotraveller's suggestion of taking the Caravan Club's own European guide with you, or (if you can manage in French) Le Guide Officiel Camping Caravanning, which you can buy from Vicarious Books.

If you're more interested in whether or not you'll get a discount, there are more than 3,250 sites in the ACSI Card scheme, throughout Europe.  Each site sets dates when it will accept the card.  Those dates are not yet on the ASCI Card website (www.campingcard.co.uk) and aren't likely to be until the end of November or into December.

If you're planning on being away after the third week in August then it's likely that day by day more sites will start accepting the card.  However, if you're going the first three weeks in August then there will be few, if any, sites which give you a discount if you have an ACSI Card.
