Archies camping POI files

hopefully Valda may be able to help with this one...

when i go to campingcarifos for my 'aires' POI files, the different type of aires have different icons, and each type can be included or excluded on the satnav.

i know all this data is also collated (along with other stuff) by Archies Camping and i was wondering if the aires 'type' is retained.

i ask because all the 'icons' on AC for aires are the same , a capital 'A'.

this means i could sort those aires which are just service points from those which are, say, overnight parking.

have i missed something, or is it best for me to stick with camingcarinfos if i want this level of information?

hope you understand the question..... Happy

many thanks.

    BB

Why not contact Archie direct. He is very amenable and I am sure he would be happy to answer you question and or take onboard any suggestions you have.

I would help if I could, but sadly, even though I do some work for the website, I don't understand the technicalities, and we don't even use Archie's ourselves.

David's suggestion is the best one.  I passed on a similar suggestion on a different topic, and within minutes Archie had updated it for the next download!

    Hi BB,

Was looking at the website with a motorhoming friend and could not see a English language option? Could use translate but thought maybe we were missing something. The friends are travelling from Caen to Benidorm area in January and looking for as much info
    as they can get.

There is an option to select English:

Archies Campings - just click the British flag at the top of the screen, but the link should take you straight to the version in English.

A useful link is at the bottom of the page, where 'Sites near the main routes' is featured, and this contains details of all sites within 15 km of the major routes through France.

I loaded Archies POIs on my Garmin and used it for about 15 sites in France, Switzerland and Italy this year. Every single site could be searched and located using all or part of the name and always took us to the front door, however, I don't recall it differentiating
between types of site. If I am missing something it would be good to know.

i did get a reply from Archie but it really confirmed what i thought....all 'sites' are marked with the same icon....

camping car infos can (just about) be navigated using translate.

you can down load the aires files either by county or for the whole of europe in on go.

however, as (like with Archie) there now appears to be only one icon with each file, all sites appear the same on your satnav.

my current POI files from campingcarinfos came, not by country, but by type....a far better grouping IMHO as i can then select only those i am interested....ie NOT campsites when i want AIRES...

and even then, some aires only have a service point and no overnighting......

i do have a set of 2015 files, by type, for a Tomtom, of anyone would like them....
