A week near the Mosel..

So, as much as we'd like longer, that thing called work is getting in the way Worried so we are determined not to be deterred and have worked out that taking our motorhome, we can sail overnight on a Thursday from Hull to Zeebrugge (we are an hour away at the UK end) and be at somewhere lovely (Mosel) by mid afternoon on the Friday at the latest. We can then have 7 nights leisurely stopping before returning on the overnight the following Saturday!

My question is (and this really is how long is a piece of string) where are the absolute must stop places - even if there are many, I'd rather look at them all and then plan a route that might take some of them in. The only place I've ever been to is St Goar and that was on a Contiki tour when I was much younger and a lot of alchol was involved I seem to remember.

Any help from the experts would be really gratefully received.

KD - it's many years ago now, but I remember we found a very nice site near Cochem, walking distance down to the river and castle. Sorry, can't remember the details but that whole area was fabulous in good weather. Happy

(Soz, can't claim to be an expert though! Laughing)

In Trier now and it's very nice. Unexpectedly stopped here on way back through from Nancy to Frankfurt.

Cruised up to Saarburg on half day outing - very quaint, interesting but go straight up to centre area as water wheels galore plus loads of places to eat etc.

Campsite Treviris at Trier (fine although staff a bit stern), ask for riverside pitch if you book? It is an easy walk/cycle in to town. Miles and miles of riverside cycle tracks.

    Try, for example:

Depends what you want, I don't pretend to be an expert!

The site I would recommend is Camping Burgen in the village called Burgen, North of Cochem.  It is fairly easy to get to Cochem and the northern Mosel castles e.g. Burg Eltz,  other castles and even Koblenz and the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine.  We
stayed there in June and although I haven't finished loading the photos yet, it might be worth having a look at my story

    HERE
    .

    Any other questions,:please ask.
