Cockroaches?
We are down on the Vendee and we are plaughed with what appear to be small cockroaches in the caravan. They are only a problem in the evening and after dark. They are incredibly fast and get into small crevices. They are all the same size, less than a centimetre.
Not convinced that they are cockroaches. Anyone had similar problems? Advice appreciated. We are in a wooded area away from buildings and adjacent to corn fields.

One possibility is Earwigs...large numbers...very quick....seem to appear from nowhere....harmless.

Earwigs we had them our first time to France not sure why but we did never had them since. Just buy a spray from the Intermarch and spray under the beds etc. I freaked out when i first saw them but we did get them under control good luck.

Not earwigs or woodlice. Know what they look like. From what we can make out from staff they are some type of grain bug. Very popular at this time of year. Look similar to a small cockroache but not a roach. We have got some insect spray so hopefully will
see them off. Thanks for your replies.0 -
My husband was bitten by something the campsite in France described as Bugs of the Harvest - and had an intense and very nasty reaction, with weeping open wounds on his legs which required daily treatment from a French GP. We later found they are what is more commonly known as Chiggers or Harvest Mites, but they are tiny things, so I don't think what the OP has in his van.
I should think a good ant powder will get rid of them - whatever they are - it kills wasps in their nest, as well as all the other small creatures which cause a nuisance in French houses and caravans.

A friend who had been cutting a hedge got attacked by these tiny warriors. Nothing that three weeks in hospital didn't cure. He bought a flamethrower when he came out and now has no hedges!
