St Jean de Monts
Hi - we are going to St Jean de Monts in France (Vendee) next week for 2.5 weeks via the St Malo overnight crossing. I just wondered if anyone has been to that area and has any advice about things to do and see. We have 2 boys aged 10 and 7.Many thanks!

Bike riding paths are plentiful through the pine forests and all along the flat promenade front, cockle picking is a must so buy one of those net things and a bucket, ile de noirmoutier is worth a visit as is anywhere up and down the lovely coast which is mainly all sandy beaches. Challans is also nice, enjoy.
Oh by the way there's a nice golf course right next to the beach at the northern end of the town.

Large market on Wednesday and Saturdays. Planete Sauvage safari park isn't too far away and the kids will love it. I've never been to Blackpool but the beach at St Jean de Monts is big and when I have been, clean. Also it isn't full of stag or hen do's.
There is a water park nearby, although we never visited it. St Giles Croix de Vie is lovely and I would echo a visit to Ile de Noirmoutie.0 -
Visited there in 2012. My blog on where we visited and pictures is jennyandjohngocaravanning.wordpress.com I didn't like it but commented that it was ideal beaches if you had children.

Stayed in or near a few times and found that there was a lot to do in the area. There are quite a few places to visit but this will be dictated by the children who may prefer the lovely beaches!
St Gilles Croix De Vie is a lovely little place and the main street is pedestrianised so good with children. There is a great ice cream place-Les Glaces et Alain-on the road by the river near the old bridge. There are also a couple of good supermarkets, particularly
the Le Clerc which is massive and has fuel as well.Sables D-Olonne is nice and there are lots of seafood restauarants and a lovely old carousel near the Casino.
One great day out we had was to Apremont which is a very nice old town with a Chateau and set on a lake. The ticket for the Chateau also gives accrees to a water tower which has a lift to the top 80 metres up and with fantastic views. The lake has pedaloes
and electric boats for hire and we found the whole expierience a nice change from the coast for a day.0
