We also go for easy towing and therefore favour peage but in this case you don't have to. We went to St Jean de Monts in 2012 and the whole way was toll free. I noted in my blog what a brillant road it was to south of Nantes.

Hi, I’ve just come across your post. Can I ask what you thought of la Guyonnière as I’m thinking of going this year. Also how was the drive from Cean? We will be towing our 7.5m caravan, are the service stations easily accessible ?

Hi Dolly, Every one loves La Guyonniere - just trust the reviews.

It's a straightforward 250 mile journey on big roads from Caen ferry port via Rennes and Nantes -  there are easy fuel stations on the way, but with diesel  now a similar price in France as UK you can fill up in Portsmouth before you leave and then you won't even need to stop for fuel on the way.

    Take care.

Cheapest fuel before the ferry are Tesco, Northarbour near Port Solent and ASDA at Purbrook J1 off A3M.

Going to la Guyonniere for the 4th year in a row this year and we find the Portsmouth to St Malo overnight ferry great.Off the ferry by 8 and pitching up dinner time, then in pool by tea time 🙂🙂
