Caravan fan

Hi, we are off to France in couple of weeks, travelling with two young boys, thinking about how hot the caravan can be in the evening, can anyone recommend a low wattage fan that would be suitable for caravan use. I have seen one in Argos states its 50 Watts,
any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

50 watts is very low wattage, half of an old fashioned light bulb. All I would say is do you have a place in mind where you might put it in the caravan. If you have one of the skylights with an extractor fan in they can be quite effective at cooling the
van, if somewhat noisy. They can be used in either direction. Likewise if you have blown air heating which can be use on a zero setting with no heat that will also help cool the van.

Thanks for that, we have a Challenger 590 with the rear bunk beds, I was thinking of putting the fan on the rear table just to cool the rear area down just to make the boys area more comfortable in the evening. The sky light fan is over the kitchen area,
however never thought about the air cooling. I will probably purchase the Argos range model.

We have two large fans, no idea ofthe wattage! Cools the van very nicely and no problems cutting out in the last ten years.

    Ignorance. Has workedwell for us!

We use a normal fan in the caravan often if it is hot. Have to make sure everything else powerful is off if you are on a six amp site but it certainly cools the van down.

My OH bought a small 12V fan from, I think Robert Dyas/Wilkinsons a week or two ago. If summer ever arrives maybe I'll need it.

We use our blown air, and we have a small fan heater that you can run on a 'no heat' setting, and we find the combination keeps the van cool.

We also leave all the windows open with just the flyscreens down, and only the screens across the opened Heki's.

If it is really hot then a desk or tower fan will be best so get one of those and,.of course, you can you it when it is just quite warm as well! We use the van for sleeping only, living in the awninfg, so keep blinds down if necessary to keep van cool which
helps. A few years ago in Italy the temp was late 30s centigrade and the fan was turned on as we set up and not turned off for three weeks!

We have just bought two 'rechargeable fans'. They charge from USB and have clamps to hold them wherever you like. Admittedly they run for just six hours, however, once the kids are asleep, the juice running out shouldn't be such a problem. I cant cut and paste thingy on my tablet but if you go to Amazon UK and look for rechargeable battery fans (sold by SUPTOON)  have a look. I am certainly pleased with them. In the heat I can clip them right next to my face and it amazingly cools me right down. They are not cheap (£18) but worth the money..

Screwfix do a 40w white 12" desk fan for £9.99. Oscillating and 3 speed settings. It runs very fast and quiet on speed 1 and feels cooling. Just bought one for our Europe trip starting next week so I think it should be fine.

We use two desktop type fans - one larger than the other.  No idea what the power is but it serves our purpose well.

I saw oscillating desk fans for sale in LeClerc ranging from 12€ to 19€ 3 differant sizes each had 2 speeds and they were very quiet, was very tempted to buy one but we already have 2 small fans and it was raining at the timeFrown still
I now know that if one breaks down or I forget to pack them I can purchase them quite easy in FranceSmile

But don't forget to either take a few spare British plugs (we have some in our useful bits and bobs box) to replace the one on the fan, or you'll also need to buy a French to British adaptor. They tend to be much more expensive in France than the pound shop,
three for a pound, offers here!
