Hairdryer dilema

Hi, thankfully I don't need a hair dryer however my wife and two daughters do. It looks like there are only 6 amp electricity points when we visit L'lle d'Ore (Amboise) and Caravaning Des 4 Vents later this year so their hair dryers (~2000 watts) will trip
the supply. What do other folks do our there? Are you using less powerful hairdryers (1250watts) instead or is there some other trick up your sleeves?

Any help is appreciated,

Battered & bruised husband Frown

We got a travel hairdryer from Argos which can run at 1,000 watts and seemed to be OK.

4 Vents is a great site and our first choice for that area.

Most sites abroad have sockets in their amenity blocks, you would just need your adaptor.

I have a more powerful hairdryer, and have found that provided I make sure no other appliances are switched on we can manage without tripping the hook-up. I just make absolutely sure we don't have the kettle on at the same time (done that before, inadvertently, and OH and site 'handyman' called to put it back on, weren't pleased!!!).

And obviously, only one hair-dryer at a time!

Jpwever. DaveFL2 is correct, most sites have plugs in the sanitary block - and if in doubt use those.

I find the travel dryers just aren't powerful enough for my hair.

Got that one from Argos. Works fine. Actually got 2 as I use the same type at home. Works for me anyway but other half has a V8 powered thing

I just use the same one as I do at home but on 6amp sites I only use it on setting 1 not 2. As others have said lots use the facilities block to dry their hair if they need to use a more powerful dryer or straighteners.

Thanks all for your useful insites to hair and beauty Kiss

To be on the safe side I think I'll invest in one of these: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4435798.htm

Anything for a quiet life (apart from the sound of the hairdryer of course!) Laughing

OH always gets her hair cut short before we go away. Suits the climate as we'll as being easier to maintain.

You will probably be OK on a 6 amp supply.

My caravan hair dryer is lower wattage but we haven't found anything we can't use on 6 amps supply other than our George Forman grill. You just have to be organised and make sure everything else is turned off except the fridge.
