Our simple calculation is 40 miles in the first hour; 40 miles in the last hour and then 50 mph for the rest of the journey assuming the use of motorways. Rest stops are then added. Without motorways you will average less than 40mph. Also the addage "an
hour before lunch is worth 2 after" is very true, start reasonably early and aim to finish so that you are set up by 3 pm.

Sped limits in France depend a bit on your outfit. If the cars grodd tractive weight is over 3,500 kg you get a lower speed limit. We have done $ vents to Calais and it ntook us about five hours although it would take longer if you hit Paris inh the rush
    hour.

The site owner and staff are very helpful and if you want to visit Paris will give you an alternative station for Paris with free parking and a good service.

Disney is about 20 minutes away.

I gave a link to the speed limits earlier in the thread if anyone is interested.

Most caravan outfits are limited to 56 MPH max on motorways and that is enforced these days.

Er, well, no. I tow at 65 to 70 mph on toll autoroutes - Freelander plus Eriba  - and other bigger caravans  pass me.

In France, no matter how fast you go, someone will want to overtake you. If you keep to the speed limit, everyone will want to overtake you!

ET. They might well do but if the GTW is over 3.5 tonnes then it's 56mph or they are breaking the law and we both know how much french plod likes a brit speeder.

I also have a Freelander but towing a mid range Bailey I am well over the 3.5 tonn GTW. I don't know what an Eriba weighs but a number of Dutch buy a low weight car and a big caravan to get under the 3.5GTW which allows them 80mph on a toll motorway. It's a bit bonkers if you ask me but it's the law.

C&C. I  know exactly what you mean (I used to live there) but a few years ago french plod decided to do something about the death rate on their roads and began to really crack down on speeding using every bit of tech available.

I have actually noticed a difference in their driving, even my other half remarked upon it.

Which as the GTW of a Freelander is well above 3500kg is 9-14 MPH above the legal limit. Our opinions of their rules are irrelevant and, as has been said in relation to this and other issues, we can't expect much,if any, sympathy from their Police. If they
bring back Allo Allo they could do a great sketch with Officer Crabtree and a speeding caravanner!
